just wondering how many of you folks here are Turn-Based strategy game fans like me. personally, the Civilization series and the first X-COM game, to me, are the peak of gaming. i'm also fond of the Galactic Civilization series, and some of Maxis' older games.
while i'm quite certain not everyone feels the same way about TBS games, i find the replay value of these games (and others of their ilk) to be unattainable by any other genre. currently, i am playing a lot of the new Civilization IV: Colonization and also have a game of X-COM going thanks to DosBox. other fans? other games? Loooove X-Com and Terror of the deep. I agree these games have endless replayability.

Big fan of the Civilization series (at least 2-4 on the computers, the console ones aren't so big for me).
As for console TBS games? Nothing can ever beat the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series, by Koei. The turn based version of Dynasty Warriors, if you want a comparison. RotK got me started on the TBS genre and it's probably my favorite of all time, even better than Civ, any anything else, I think. |
