I think a FPS would be a bad choice for a GI Joe game. Jmaq1, Troynos, and Drunknmunkey all make valid points. GI Joe particularly since ARAH has been introduced to the public is all about being unique and diversified. Almost every character from both factions is different.
Cobra Commander isn't Destro, even though they want to achieve the same things most of the time. If one does something the other strongly disagrees with he will turn on the other. Destro is imposing, while CC would be considered scrawny. Storm Shadow is a Ninja in all white while Snake Eyes his counterpart is mostly in all black, but he's not dressed as a traditional Ninja. He is dressed more like a combat specialist. Something more like a 3rd person shooter would be better for a GI Joe game. Something were you can see if not all, but most of the character on screen. Hasbro is all about milking its core characters. So if there is any type of game that will be made. You can bet that we will be able to see characters like Duke, Snake Eyes, Cobra Commander, and Destro. I think a game that looks like Mass Effect would be a good start. In that series you get to see all the characters very well, and the combat is good. You can shoot or melee your enemy, and you can control vehicles. Would that the best way to go or the best choice in the endeavor? I don’t know if I would say that, but I don’t think it’s a bad starting point either. Maybe they should do a Joe game that looks and plays similar to the Transformers Cybertron games. |

I think a AAA game developer would rather spend the bazillion dollars it takes to make an awesome game on their own IP or a brand that is more dependable than G.I. Joe. I think a big budget game needs to sell at least a million copies to make their money back after all is said and done; I doubt any G.I. Joe game would even sell half a million copies.

A third person shooter like GRAW for the 360 would be the ideal choice. People want to see Snake Eyes slice people like sushi.

Either a third person shooter/action game or real time strategy game would be better options for G.I. Joe than an FPS.

I would love a FPS. I think that as long as there is good character development in the writing, it could be very good.

i would love 1st person shooter for gijoe, and yes you would see the character, especially if it were online every time he killed you, see them all the time on bf,and cod, and you can see you on the load out screen all the time, so im going to have to disagree with that logic, but for off line i could see how that would suck, but most ppl i know play online these days, however a good 3rd person or rts is not a bad idea either.

The thing is: Playing online isn't "playing G.I. Joe." It's playing a generic FPS with a G.I. Joe skin. Most FPS fans would just as soon get a mod/skin for a AAA FPS title than play a half-arsed licensed version.
G.I. Joe is about characters and story, not getting teabagged in ranked online matches. |

In my opinion the best engine for G.I. Joe would be something like the Battlefront games: Recognizable individual characters, ranged and melee combat, and vehicle combat all rolled into one game. And enjoyed a strong online presence back in the day. FPS games aren't the only things people play online. |

I wonder if there are some decent GI Joe mods for famous released FPS game out there.
I knew there were some GI Joe-esque mods for Counter Strike Source but mostly are just reskin. |
