Ok, so it's a younger kids game. But Santa is bringing it to my kids this year and I know my son will love it. I'm actually a little jazzed to try it out too. My daughter is into it as well. Hopefully we'll have a fun Christmas.
Skylanders official website The easiest way to understand it is to read the Parents page. Then click around and check out the characters. What do you guys think? Thumbs up or down? Thumbs up for me. I know I'll be buying characters for a while, but someone finally figured out a way to give a video game some legs (opportunity to last a while).

Well, Santa came and went. Skylanders is here! It's FUN! I stink at video games but I had a blast playing with my son and daughter! My wife even got in on the action! Well done Activision!

I would love to get this for my nephews and niece to play when they come over, but I don't want to invest that much in a game. LOL. I mean you gotta buy the starter pack and then at least one fighter of the remaining elements to open up all the sections of each stage. Then you gotta buy the adventure packs to open up the additional levels... I bet it adds up real quick. Of course you could just complete the game with just the supplied 3 characters... but that would be kinda lame IMO since you would be skipping a lot of the action.
The cool thing is though I read that the little toys actually act as memory cards and hold all the level up stats and stuff in the actual toy itself and it is actually cross platform compatible so you can just take you little Skylander dude to your friend's house (assuming he has the starter kit as well) and use it there no matter what system he has. But without that little cool gimmick, Skylander seems pretty much like your typical button masher.

My son got this game also and its incredible! It took him two days to win but he is going back to level up his figs and get all accolades and bonus items. We have about 15 figs so far but they are hard to find. Still need the WM and Target exclusives.
Its very well done and we never had a problem with switching characters on the portal, its flawless. I just joined the online portion and updated my "Lair" with all my figs. Wade can now log in and play all the minigames, etc. Now you need to be on the lookout for the silver ones released!! |

Went to TRU today and noticed they had 25% off on the Skylander figs and adventure packs... and they were wiped out as far as selection is concerned. They only had a bazillion of only the ugly Goblin looking figure left and bazillion of only the spooky Goblin castle thingy adventure pack left.
I guess kids like this game. LOL.

Very neat little game. I got it for my daughters for Christmas and they are having a blast with it. Your holding the character in your hands one minute and then playing the character on the screen the next. Cool concept. We have a hand full of characters but two of them have stood out as absolute favorites for the kids (Drobot and Chop Chop). For those that have played the game, do you or your kids have a favorite character?
