The puzzles arn't what made RE survival horror imo. To me what made it was the sense of dread, the the feeling of wondering what's around the corner not to mention ammo was scarce so you had to kinda be conserevative with it not to mention the characters themselves made you feel like they were in a stituation completely out of their element. The new guys in ORC are not only trained to take out zombies and BOWs, they look like they can. Add to that that this is supposed to be a hardcore shooter means you'll probably find plenty of ammo not to mention it's 4-players, you've re really taken away most of the survival horror element. Anywho all negativity aside, I still am stoked about this no doubt. I'll also admit the puzzles in earlier games got repetative real fast too. I think RE4 (my personal fave in the series) was a good balance of horror and action.
anywho, i see what youre saying, i love a game that only makes me want to play it in the daylight. i think we need a good zombie slaughter game. Left for Dead was ok, got old fast, and the Dead Rising Series was fun too, but they were missing something... |

I thoroughly enjoyed the l4d series. But they're in a totally different category. Everything was completed on those for me except finishing expert campaigns. I only have the swamp left in the 2nd one.

The original was AMAZING! NOTHING will EVER come close to it again. The first is usually the best, everything else is a cash-in. 2 was just OK, 3 sucked hard. 4 I REALLY liked until it got into the monks and shit, then I was done with it. I bought 5 and played the first level and never touched it again.
Until they go back and do another one similar two the original, I probably wont buy it. AND, I sick of the FPS POV too. HATE THAT! I dont want it like the original, but Id LOVE to be able to see my guy on the screen and whats around him rather than that goddamn over the shoulder shit. They need to make one like a GTA game, where there is like multiple layers to it like the first one, but have it be completely explorable like GTA until you open up other parts. And/or make it so if you do go to a part you dont belong, you CAN NOT survive because the creatures are too powerful. We need more adventure in the game. Not just a straight forward walk through like 4 was. We need to find keys, puzzles, etc., and it needs to be more like the original in that regard. It amazes me that game designers botch these things so regularly. The original spawned a new generation of games, STICK WITH THE FUCKING BLUE PRINT! |
