If you grew up in the 1970s or you are an anime fan, Im sure you heard of STARBLAZERS. To sum up, last ditch effort by humanity to save Earth from alien invaders by taking a modified battleship to another star system. Kinda like BSG. My fellow tankers. Ive seen the old and watched clips of the new LIVE ACTION MOVIE....its very cool. I have downloaded pics that will be in another album in a few minutes. The BLACK TIGER fighter is amazing. The ships in the trailer range from SW looking to Hunt for RED OCT-looking. Im sure Japan will capitalize on this, Im hoping they do it sooner than later.

The first link is to a longer trailer Word on the street is that US filmakers/US Corporations want to make an American version with possibly the USS ARIZONA. This film is all about live action version of a japanese cartoon which american kids grew up with. No reason to basterdize it by making it american. Watch the clip and decide for yourself. Personally, I dont need it in english, subtitles work fine. Last edited by Skipper; 03-10-2011 at 04:50 PM.. Reason: cuz |

As near as I can tell they have 4 fighters
Kodai's ship from the scorched earth COSMO BLACK TIGER--yuki's/starbuck like chick's ride COSMO ZERO---Kodai's fighter Some type of Bomber with a long front end fuselage--reminds of BSG merged with Gen Grevious Starfighter, looked odd but cool. |

I loved Yamato. Greatest theme song ever.
However, Yamato hasn't changed in 40 years. If you compare it with Star Trek, ST gets a new enterprise, new crews, new uniforms, Capt Kirk and crew even grow old. And with that comes new stories. Yamato gets none of that. The same old same old. How many times does the rickety old WW2 Yamato rescues the modern Earth fleet from annilhalation. The yamato was re-designed 15 years ago by Syd Mead. It was futuristic and blocky. Sorta looked like the Sulaco in Aliens. It bombed, but thats life. Where are the toys? Ask the american distributor, Voyager Entertainment. If we can get a Thundercats remake, then the only way to get a revival is if another company takes over the license from Voyager. Partner with Bandai and toys a coming. The problem is bigger than it looks. Popular brands like Yamato and Macross have american license owners. They will block japanese product from reaching our shores. They'll want their cut or will sue to block the product from being sold. Yet american license owners act like squatters sitting on a brand and do NOTHING. I want nothing better than to have these companies squashed. The japanese owners should revoke or end their license agreements with these americans. And they will sue. Does Voyager and Harmony Gold have an indefinite license agreement with the japanese forever? License ownership has already played out in the japanese courts. I don't know how that affects the american owners. |

Wow, that blows chunks. To think, if they released SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO here in the US, they could donate proceeds to Japan. Same with the toys, buy the toy and have 35% go toward funds to help tsunami/quake victims and families in Japan rebuild.
