As a fan of what Jakks gave us with their Classics line, I would have gone with "disappointing" instead of "hysterical". ;)
Mattel is where it's at right now. If Jakks was smart, they'd scrap the Deluxe figs for Basics and Legends or invest in some new tools that are more in scale with what Mattel is doing. Last edited by Red Herring; 02-16-2011 at 10:10 AM.. |

The TNA figures are such a let down. I was looking forward to them until I saw them in person. I love the promotion and watch it loyally every week.
Part of the problem with wrestling figures for me may be that I don't really play with them anymore and make my own storylines and stuff. I'm so much more interested in GI Joe, Star Wars, MOTUC and now Thundercats is looming around the corner. I actually need to try adn get rid of a lot of my classics figures to make room for other stuff I really want.

I have a question for you guys. I can't stand wrestling and wrestling toys but thats for another thread. If I look at the aisles TRU has a whole aisle for wrestling figures that don't seem to sell (or atleast they are restocked constantly) target and walmart similiar story. but just by looking at that wrestling figures would be selling twice as much as Star Wars and GI Joe combined. Do these figures have that big a following?

Dude...twice a week they have televised programming with between 8,000-15,000 attendees, many of whom are children. Plus, there are monthly Pay-per-views with 10,000-15,000 attendees. They get between 2-3 million viewers per Raw or Smackdown every week, and 200,000-700,000 viewers for Pay-per-views. The figures are also packaged twice as large as SW or Joes figures, so the space given is larger, but is proportional to the size of the figures. I bet they sell a little slower than Star Wars figures.

I saw an interesting interview done with a guy from Jakks durring Toy Fair.
The impression I got was that they were having trouble competing. |

With The Rock back now, wrestling is just going to get bigger.

I find Mattel's basic figure's legs to be a little too close together for my liking.
I heated some of them up and pulled their legs apart a bit so they look a little more ready for action. Has anyone else felt the same way about Mattel's basic Figure's legs being too close together? |

Not into the basics other than for parts for customs or Divas. Love the Elite, Legends, and Defining Moments. Just got Elite 7 HBK, HHH, and Hart Dynasty. Awesome figs. Also watch the 4 part video interview on Wrestlingfigs.com with Bill K. It was from Toyfair and he went over all the things that Mattel has planned for this year and beyond. Real good stuff. I'll tell you that he did announce that Bret Hart by the end of the year in Elite and DM.

I have huge collection of Jakks ever since they first came out with the bone crunching series in 96' I stopped around the 2000's I cherry picked the Classics Superstars line and still collect the Divas.I'm starting to get drawn in with the Mattel line.Definitely getting the Ultimate Warrior and Macho Man.On a side note can anyone here help get me a TNA Velvet Sky figure.I live in a wrestling collector town and figures sell here.Wrestling was really huge up here in upsytate NY back during the Monday night wars the start of the NWO and Attitude era for the WWF.I think everyone here had an NWO or Austin 3:16,DX shirt on back then
