About 4 years ago i realised things had got out of control.
I've got a small spare room and it's packed to the ceiling with boxes full of various stuff but mainly toys. From the late 80's right through to about 2000 when ebay took off i'd hit charity shops and car boot sales (like second hand markets) every weekend and come back with bags of stuff. In the 80's it wasn't unusual to get full carrier bags of Joes or Star Wars figures for about £5 $7.50. I think at one point i had 3500 vintage Staw Wars figures. I used to sell some of it various ways before the internet but a lot just got sorted out, i'd add all the good stuff to my collection and most of what was left was just boxed up. Well after 4 years of concentrated ebaying i'm still over whelmed with stuff. I've just spent a few hours digging through stuff that hadn't been opened for about 10 years and christ theres some rubbish. Boxes of transformers with no guns, boxes of non action figure star wars crap, tons of loose 12inch Gi Joe/Action uniforms and bits and bloody Simpsons figures..... just endless junk thats mostly worth nothing. Of course amongst all the this are my mint loose and boxed items, but theres a hell of a lot of junk. My plan this year is to clear at least 50% of the stuff i don't want. So anyone else have tons of this crap kicking about?

To a lesser degree, yes. I have tons of figures from multipacks or clearance sales that I bought up to get one figure or another and ended up with three I don't want. Do that a few hundred times and the pile of stuff you don't want adds up quick. Of course, no one else wants it either.

I did, been clearing it out for the past year, most of it was figs from multi-packs and a few dio items I didn't get around to putting to the final use of. The major part is the old ARAH custom fodder I have laying around, but getting through that too.

To a major degree yes. I have been picking stuff up left and right and I really need to clear it all out.

Anything I don't want gets sold off, or donated to Goodwill or Toys for Tots, and the like....
If you don't want it, then its garbage, so get rid it. If all it does is take up space then it's junk, so get rid of it. You should own your shit, not let your shit own you. At least that's my thinking. |

I'd say almost none.
There was a time I had some stuff that was just straight crap and I ever tossed it or traded it. I've always been pretty crafty when it comes to space but you can only do so much, not only that but I'm not even a "completist" If I don't like it? I don't buy it...I almost never buy things that are movie related. I don't buy anything with the "this is gonna be worth so much someday" attitude......and I think all of those things help me enjoy my collection in it's entirety, pretty much the same way I did when I was getting toys as a kid...everything is "special". Comic books on the other hand? I don't know how many of you guys remember buying the stuff in the mid 90's where every cover was a die cut, foil, 2099 POS....those I still have alot of. |
