This Tusken thing is interesting because I'm not even inclined to balk at the price. But in just an absolute convergence of bad looks, they report the wrong initial price that was already a bit too high, then raise it by $5, and then once you kick in shipping...
The whole point of these packs was a method to troop build and save money. They are now no longer cheaper than carded figures. But I bet Hasbro is still saving money. $40 to $60 in what? 2 years? And much of the older sets are still collecting dust, even after the warehouse sale. At this juncture, I'm not so much mad as I am impressed by them digging their heals in on the outright ineptitude at play Digging their heels in indeed. Meanwhile I'm continually picking up stuff on clearance marked down as much as 70% off. They can continue raising prices at their own peril.

I guess my bewilderment belays my fury. I truly don't get what the fuck they're thinking. We can all see the effect it's having on sales. When was the last time you could have gotten figures years after they were released at significant reductions in cost still at the major retailers?
I know we've had some Ross/5 Below anomalies due to distribution in the past, but normally that happens and aftermarket prices creep back up. These things aren't even on the aftermarket yet. The inflated initial prices at major retailers, is leading to inflated costs at discount retailers. Old reject figures that should be priced at $5-$8, are being put out at discount stores for $12. No one is going to pay $12 for a Black Series Jannah figure. I know, because it's been sitting there unsold for well over a year.

Which is why the new 17 msrp was shocking to begin with, 15 already wasn't working that well to begin with and you could see it in stores last year.

Hit me up if any of you want to save cash on any new releases. I can do better than $15 per figure. Don’t even think about paying $17.

Nice! Thanks! I personally find no fault with any of the retro figures. Lots of people talking about "softer sculpting" and shit like that, but to me they feel like the figures I grew up with.
It's hard to be a MOC collector these days. I open mine, but I save the card and bubble, so I care about the card condition too. Do you know if the 2nd ANH wave is Pulse-only or if it'll be available from Amazon too? Also, anyone collecting these beyond the OT? I bought the two Mando waves, and Vader and Obi-wan from the Kenobi wave, but I don't think I'll be buying the 3rd mando wave. I wouldn't mind retro sequal-trilogy, Rogue One and Solo stuff though. Agreed. I?m very happy with almost all of the figures so far. RotJ Luke being the only anomaly. Not sure about the next OT wave of Retros but if you?re interested in any of the newer content Retros hit me up. The previous figures have all sold out on the wholesale page but let me know if you want any new releases going forward. I?ll get you a mint card and save you some money.

i just want 1:18 transformer motorcycles. i dont have any interest in transformers lore or whatever. i just want robot motorcycles for my figures. 25 bucks for these is stupid, from a casual buyer perspective. from the perspective of a kid - who toys are for - it's a non starter. why pay 25 bucks for a small motorcycle which is not in scale with the rest of the series it's apart of, when i can buy 25 final faction figures/2 marvel 5 poa figures/a whole jurassic park set with dino and person? if it werent for mentionining the 5poa marvel thing there'd be no hasbro thing at all as an option.
i would feel the same way if i could get 1:18 cars and trucks and such. i dont care about who they are, or what they do, or whatever. just "can i put chuckles in this?" I have been hitting them up for the last few years to build up my diecast collection. They are highly detailed for the price (some people go in with expectations of Auto Art levels of detail and you will be disappointed if that?s what you are expecting, but for $16 they look and feel amazing (with working steering/suspension, opening hoods, trucks, doors). I have have a ton of cars thanks to Costco. It all started in 1998 when I bought a Dodge Viper for Cobra Commander. You can fit some figures into the vehicles with modifications, but I just use for diorama purposes (as well as away to support my love of cars - I buy in 1/18 what I cannot afford to buy in 1/1 scale). |
