yes. 100%.
separately you made a good point about obiwan never "owning a droid" but having that one issued to him kind of makes it his. it's kind of like, for my job i dont exactly own the computer i work on, but for all intents and purposes it is my computer and i do currently own it until i turn it in. ask me about it 20 years from now and i'll say "yeah, that computer was mine to do my job." another example would be, at my news studio shop job; i had a tape measure and some other tools that were "mine" because they were assigned to me. and it's not just obiwan with that droid, there are a bunch of jedi that have droids that are assigned to them and those droids are referred to as their droid. the hot blue twilek's name escapes me, but she has a pink droid, and the only thing i remember about it now is i've only ever heard it referred to as her droid. |

Aayla Secura!
I don't know, maybe it's that he didn't think of is as "owning" an arguably sentient being... or maybe droids were just so commonplace they didn't even think of them at all. Of course, that's all personal retconning so that it makes sense. You can tell it wasn't all "planned out" like some people like to believe (and that's another thing - who cares if it was "planned", anyway? This is how art is made - it evolves.)

George Lucas is a creative genius, for sure. But the idea of him as this singular, all important Creator with a capital "C" is ridiculous. But guys like him are extremely rare, too - he's kind of like a general, if you think about how he has to orchestrate everything so that these other creative geniuses end up working together and, more often than not, come up with something truly great. Most directors would have to be that way even to get a bad movie made, I think... but Lucas is a bit more than that. Like Jim Henson, you know? Can't think of any other examples like that off the top of my head but I know there are others, but very, very few.

I was wondering if it was any different besides the little "hangar bay" piece. So it's the same thing then? It's not a bad deal if you want to army build them a bit more affordably.

I just got a Black Wookie for $14. I guess I could have held out further, but it's better than paying $28. If he's big enough, he may be a Skunk Ape to my Joes!!!

Oh, and my local Target appears to have put all of their Deluxe sets on sale, so maybe check your local Target if there were any you wanted but were holding out on.

If you buy the Dark Troopers, something to note is the Double Swivel Bars
on that Big Knee joint are pretty easy to break and deform. It's a very frequent QC return issue. If you buy it, you're gonna spend time teasing those Dark troopers to bend the knee so to speak.
