The fact 18th scale is broken between 3.75" and 4" is wholly and entirely the sole responsibility of Hasbro from when they created the 25A line by doing nothing more than taking the 3.75 RAH height proportions and completely fucking them up by simply adding in a second knee hinge instead of re-scaling the figures from the ground up. That decision has been the soil from which every single subsequent 18th figure in existence is one of two heights.

Because it would interfere with sales of TVC. $10-$15 articulated figures vs. $17 to $28 articulated figures would just kill TVC sales.

TVC is better sculpts than Epic Heroes Marvel. But still, there would clearly be a sizable chunk who would go grab $10 fairly articulated Star Wars over super articulated $16 ones. ESPECIALLY army builders. The defunct 5POA series was great for army building, and wound up having better sculpts than many TVC of the time. |

Which no other companies copied their t-crotched format - except UniMax briefly before they failed out of the 18th market entirely. That's not setting a standard.

Well, Marvel Epic Heroes are still crap compared to the old 3.75 Universe figures. But both aren't at retail at the same time.
