Yeah, that's pretty bad. The optics are so shitty, I think it would cost less to eat the 5 bucks on their part.
But since all these prices are artificially bloated I guess they don't give a fuck

Im not kidding. Since they've been raising prices because the day ended in y and i am not made of money like pakole, im literally only buying 4 hasbro figures this year and it's still going to cost nearly 80 dollars.
That is fucking stupid. |

*edit: Apparently it always was 35 bucks. My bad. Thanks jscott991. The rumors are that Hasbro is still imploding. They've been destroying inventory and they're scheduled to fire another people slowly over this year. I'm sure some of you've seen the Magic the gathering Landfill memes. I've also heard rumors that Black Series and Marvel Legends are tanking in sales at the same time. The Over Reliance on Disney is a real problem. As for this 4pack, even if you want it let em rot. Wait for thanksgiving or some sort of sale. Try to not buy shit Hasbro Pulse, always prefer third party. Twist Hasbro's Cock where it hurts.

Yeah that's how they roll...and how did you know I'm made of money, dude you got a sixth sense I give you that. Then you should have also figured Hasbro out by now. Coincidentally I'm also going to end up with 4 Hasbro figures this year!

I actually own stock in hasbro and their raising prices for toys at will for whatever bullshit reason other than they can pisses me off. |

That said, Hasbro or any other company for that matter can and will continue to raise toys' prices at will for whatever bullshit reason other than the fact that they can. It's non sensical, annoying and it does piss me off. BUT I also know corporations never act with common sense in mind and couldn't care less if their business practices are annoying and piss people off. SO I decided that I'm not going to complain each time the price for a repaint TVC clone trooper goes up or the retail price for a Deluxe Boba or any other character in similar packaging has no justification whatsoever. INSTEAD, I engage in a selective purchasing exercise that allows me to acquire only certain figures I really dig and believe me they're very few. Because I don't get kicks out of impulse purchases just to throw them in some random corner after convincing myself that I deserve another random toy. As for complaining being cathartic like Bujo stated earlier...agreed, but does it have the same effect to the ones around you? I don't think so. Last edited by paokole; 03-29-2023 at 09:53 PM.. |

I just shake my head seeing that when Marauders came out, we all accepted $12+ figures from them because they are boutique but now HAsbro is costing more than Marauders and bossfight. It can't be production costs.
I still have the theory that Disney is jacking up license rates because they cant get hasbro to get out of some contract they signed with lucasfilm. so disney ist rying to make Hasbro give it up so disney can make them on their own.

Can you picture their executives in a board room saying to each other ?everyone knows when your business blows jacking up prices will always fix it!? Then they take it to their stool pigeon board who says what a great idea. Then can?t figure out why they miss their earnings consensus.
That's like retailers for big box stores cutting their staff, sure it cuts cost but then nobody is shopping because of long lines in check-out or nobody to help in specialty depts. |

I should rephrase: prices will always go up for all sorts of reasons (due to increases in production costs, ie wages and raw materials) then there's price gouging that's also deemed to occur in a ?laissez faire? free market economy. Note there's no federal law against price gouging while most state laws consider it legal subject to certain exceptions/ conditions.

I still have the theory that Disney is jacking up license rates because they cant get hasbro to get out of some contract they signed with lucasfilm. so disney ist rying to make Hasbro give it up so disney can make them on their own. Once the contract is signed, you're not going to be able to change those license and royalty fees. What could be happening and creates the same effect is if sales of Disney licensed IPs are decreasing below the royalty volume, then the license cost increases at the per figure level. For example, your contract may be a $50,000 license fee paid up front, then after selling 100,000 figures you have to pay 2% royalties per figure sold (or even made in some cases). That means $0.50 of each figure goes to covering that license fee. If sells drop to 80,000 then that license cost is now $0.63/figure. That might mean dropping paint apps or extra accessories. On the upside if Disney damages the value of an IP because they keep making shitty movies or shows then you can renegotiate for a lower license fee once the contract is up. Hasbro is fucking themselves further by keeping licenses for product their not even making. For example Hasbro has been sitting on the Marvel license for 1/18 or 4" figures, but Marvel Universe and now the Marvel Retro figures no longer in production. Hasbro is going to keep paying those fees until they either recoup costs thru new product lines or subcontract to another company. |

This Tusken thing is interesting because I'm not even inclined to balk at the price. But in just an absolute convergence of bad looks, they report the wrong initial price that was already a bit too high, then raise it by $5, and then once you kick in shipping...
The whole point of these packs was a method to troop build and save money. They are now no longer cheaper than carded figures. But I bet Hasbro is still saving money. $40 to $60 in what? 2 years? And much of the older sets are still collecting dust, even after the warehouse sale. At this juncture, I'm not so much mad as I am impressed by them digging their heals in on the outright ineptitude at play
