https://hasbropulse.com/products/sta...e-old-republic Funny you mention that. That might be my longest outstanding pre-order.

oh man. so exciting to put another preorder in. for a single figure. i mentioned in 1997 i bought a millennium falcon. in 1997 there's no way i would have been able to get preorders for anything.
and i fucking hate them. |

Here we go again, pre-orders for figures that will not be made until some distant point in the future, likely 2050 (hyperbolic, I know). I understand giving a heads up to future product, that is what the cons were for in the past. But this is ridiculous lead time, especially for figures that they already have the molds for. And I hate that the figures for pre-order are spread across different case assortments, so we can't get free shipping. Hasbro is treating their normal everyday products like crowd funding awards, except they do not make as many as ordered. If you have a year lead time, then make it a true pre-order and do not limit how much you are making. If people want 500 figures, then make 500 figures. Nope, only going to make 400 figures. Makes no sense. I complain, yet I continue to play the game because I have a plastic crack addiction.
Unfortunately there's a time component in manufacturing. Minimum order quantity is a term most have heard but there's also an upper bounds in the production schedule. There may be a maximum of 200 hours for production runs and going beyond that alotted time means cutting into the next scheduled contractor's production run. There's always a possibility that the company won't meet the customer demand due production constraints, and it's better to have excess demand than excess supply. I'll take pre-orders over the utter waste of time that is the toy run. If I had nothing of interest to do with my time that made driving to 10 different stores in hopes of a thing being in stock a viable past time I'd probably ask somebody to shoot me in the head and put me out of my misery. |

I probably barely got in pre-orders for non-pointy headed Mando Super Commando and Heavy Assault gatling gun Stormtrooper, but costed me ~$23 per TVC figure without free shipping.
My Walmart still has a ton of TVC Landos... but a few of the Lobot wave too. |

not only do i not get to pick the figure i want, i dont like that i have 300 bucks floating in space that could drop whenever it wants.
if i want more than one in a wave i dont like having to buy a case of figures to make sure i get everyone i want, and then get stuck with figures i do not. i do not like piecemeal ordering figures. when i started doing preorders, it was a figure at amazon, another at ent earth, etc. that's so stupid. anyway. i'm going to forget about this mando that's a reissue of something that i dont care enough to look up and make sure and then be surprised when it comes. cant wait. so exciting. |

It's convoluted because they should be easily found in stores. It's the only way i get them without going through hoops and having 5 different packages come at once.
