Are we counting the board game "exclusives" too?

Let's not forget that a common cry from fanboys (of both GI Joe and Star Wars) for a long time has been "More troop-builders!" There was a time not too long ago that you couldn't fling a dead hooker without hitting some complaint that Hasbro needs to quit making it hard to army build. Well, looks like they listened and made it easy. lol
Overall I'm happy with the reveals. I care nothing for Retro and Black Series, so that's all a wash for me. I like 3 of the VC reveals. I could use a squad of the TFU Commander Troopers. The heavy Assault guys are a sure buy. I've been making my own heavy gunners using VC Stormies and Marauder gear. I'm always glad to get another Mandalorian. I couldn't care less about Little Angry Annie. Fairly ambivalent on the Clone Trooper box set and the Ashoka Clones. All of my 1/18th stuff exists in a singular timeline and I haven't developed a narrative for why both Clone Troopers and Stormtroopers should coexist. |

As a fan boy of both Cobra and the Empire, I was that guy complaining about the lack of troopers, especially in the GI Joe Retro line. Star Wars has come a long way to sating that troop building need. Those 4pack on Pulse have been great. My only complaints being the boxes can actually hold 8 figures comfortably (wtf Hasbro, let's save the environment and make these 8packs), and the stupid customer order limits.

Hmmm…good point.
Side note, I decided to collect them all except for the faux prototypes; not my jam.

I figured the retro-ring 2 packs were only for the 40th anniversary, but I thought there'd be at least a couple more packs after the 3 revealed. After they confirmed they were only for the 40th and announced the "soft reboot", I now suspect they're gonna follow the TVC model. I think we'll see single packs for $12-13 and troop-builder sets as well. And I think they'll be at retail too...probably Walmart. Since I'm playing Nostradamus, I prognosticate we'll see the first toys for real a year from June, no one will be able to find the first wave for awhile, much pissing and moaning will ensue, but then they'll be loads of them while the 2nd and/or 3rd waves are RARE HTF! until they show up in droves months after people paid scalper prices, and then it'll all fizzle out and die for reasons.

Wal-Mart has the Mando with the child and ice spiders reduced to $19.87 right now (previously $26.49), if that's of interest to anyone:

What is mind boggling is they have excellent head sculpts with the ESB X-wing pilot Luke which is $150 now & the old VC23 ROTJ Luke yet release "new" figures with inferior head sculpts! Makes no sense & if you want a good version of Luke to swap heads you have to pay an astronomical price for a 3.75 figure to get a good version of the character! Not to mention newer vehicle prices are through the roof more than vintage GI Joe! But people are paying it so it will only continue to get worse!

Here we go again, pre-orders for figures that will not be made until some distant point in the future, likely 2050 (hyperbolic, I know). I understand giving a heads up to future product, that is what the cons were for in the past. But this is ridiculous lead time, especially for figures that they already have the molds for. And I hate that the figures for pre-order are spread across different case assortments, so we can't get free shipping. Hasbro is treating their normal everyday products like crowd funding awards, except they do not make as many as ordered. If you have a year lead time, then make it a true pre-order and do not limit how much you are making. If people want 500 figures, then make 500 figures. Nope, only going to make 400 figures. Makes no sense. I complain, yet I continue to play the game because I have a plastic crack addiction.
