i went back to the walmart i got ig11 at - it had MORE vintage collection stock put out, but all the cards were bent to hell. not that it matters to me an opener; but im thinkin it's the usual scalper not able to buy everything so he bends the cards because he's a shit bag thing.
then again... what if people started bending cards so scalpers cant sell them? |

I've heard all sorts of stuff over the years about card-benders for various reasons, and I'm sure it happens, but I've seen enough case-fresh product arrive beat to hell to know that nine times out of ten, those toys just show up that way. Honestly, I think card-benders are like re-packers in that the ones talking about it in online forums are probably also the ones who are doing it.

pretty much after i hit send, it occurred to me if people were to start bending cards to fight scalpers, it doesnt get rid of the fact that they'll still be buying hard to find figures anyway and jacking those prices up.
cant win. |

these new cards aren't made all that sturdy
I'm sure that includes the shipper boxes too it is a cost reducing measure to make them with less material sucks to be a mint on card collector

well you also gotta realize that the workers at Walmart store are pretty much guys and you damn well know that they probably do hoard a few action figures in the back room for themselves. Figures like any X-men figure from Marvel legends to any new star Wars vintage figure while in the toy aisles get clogged up with tons of stupid Fortnite figures and godzilla stuff.
just last year so when there were Marvel Legends Strong Guy build a figure wave, in just one day when i was looking at them to see what was available, i left for like 15 minutes then went back to the main toys for boys aisle, they were not on the pegs/shelves anymore. So you pretty much have to figure it out that the workers at Walmart who stock the toy aisles are men most of the time anyway and i think they lurk/creep around the corners then the start snatching/hoarding away putting action figures in a box for themslves sitting in the back room stock them. |

why would they wait for the toy to go to the shelf if they can just take it from the stock room?
i worked at kb toys, if there was something i was wanting i'd take it out of the box and put it aside. granted, these were the reissue RAH gijoes and i was cherry picking. you left a toy aisle for 15 minutes after finding something you want leaving it, returning to see it gone and your conclusion is a stock person grabbed it? not another shopper? really? |

yeah but in this case, it's far more likely another shopper than an employee.
im saying, that if an employee were to have done it like he claimed, it wouldnt have made it to the aisle to start with because they could have grabbed it long before then. |

Could be both at the same time. I chatted with a Hasbro rep this time last year and she comes out to help put stuff on the pegs if its been planogrammed. She's found stuff sitting in the back FOR WEEKS after it was delivered. Some stuff she found in open boxes laying around. Definitely evidence to suggest its partly employees not giving a schitt about the toy aisle, and evidence to suggest people plucking and hiding stuff from the pegs.
Toy collecting employees were probably much more likely at places like KB and TRU. I know that the TRUs I used to visit for work had a policy that product had to leave the backroom and hit the salesfloor before an employee could claim it for themselves. They had to scan the product out of the backroom and into its salesfloor location. This was done to limit inventory errors and keep employees from hoarding/stashing toys in the stockroom. There were obvious ways around it, of course, but in all the time I spent in their stockrooms, I never saw hoards or stashes. I think they did have an unofficial employee hold area though in the office area, but I remember being told employees had to buy that stuff on their next break and take them to their car or breakroom locker, IIRC. I found all this out when I remarked off-hand to a manager that employees must get first dibs on all the hot toys.
