So, I'm looking at the various and sundry releases of the X-Wing, and I'm having a hard time figuring out the differences, let alone find the best one.
Anyone have comparison pics, or a preference as to which version is the best/most to scale?

The 2004 version was Red Leader's. Then came another Dagobah Luke version in 2006 with faux swamp foliage and some Dagobah monster and training Luke. Last year there was Wedge's Red Leader version from ROTJ IIRC, with a fully articulated Wedge, droid, AND boarding ladder! The best ones are arguably the latter 2. The seat can fold forward to reveal a storage space. With one of these X-Wings there is no need at all to track down a vintage version from the 80's and mid 90's. These modern ones render the vintage obsolete. If you like Luke's, the best version is the 2006. If you just want the best X-Wing, character preference aside, Wedge's is the best one. |

I vote Wedge's, it looked pretty tight in-person.

Agreed. '06 Luke's or last year's Wedge's. It really just depends on whether you prefer the removeable swamp bits from the Dagobah one, or the ladders and unique R2 with Wedge's.

And to think I got Wedge's X-wing still sitting in a box all this time. :(
I know there's at least 1 person in my area that just HAS to have every astro-mech ever made. Which, means I'm always finding multi-pack sets and in this case X-wings with missing droids. The thieving bastard! If you're reading this right now, FU! |

Alright, for X-Wings, it's best to look no further than 2002-present. The 2002 version is a heavily retooled version of the Power F/X version from 97 or 98. Why is this version important? Well:

I picked up a loose 2006 X-wing off of ebay and I had no idea about the storage compartment. I'll have to check it out when I get home.
Also, I can attest to the durability of this toy. I have mine sitting on a top shelf in the living room. It took a nose dive when my 4 year old threw something and knocked it down. The only thing that happened was the wings popped off but easily popped back in. |
