Transformers Cybertron was the greatest of the Armada trilogy toylines IMHO. Why? It featured full articulation and the Autobots for the most part, were not gimped by some combining gimmick. The ones that did combine, still retained full articulation in separate AND combined modes.
I bought some Armada, lots of Energon, and what did I have? Buyer's regret. I bought some Cybertron and I have regret. Why? I didn't buy enough! We had an Optimus Prime, that retained full articulation in separate and combined modes, for the 1st time in over 3 years! Prior to this there was Fire Convoy/RID Prime. Cybertron Prime was a RETURN to the right direction! Armada gave us a..."different" version of Prime that was a brick in super mode with hollow legs, Energon gave us Fatimus Prime which was like a not-Megazord, Cybertron gave us a Prime that not only combined with his own trailer and 2 other robots, but had a removable MATRIX too. Prior to this, the only Prime/Convoy figures that did this were New Years Convoy(Takara G1 reissue in Dreamwave box), and Big Convoy from Beast Wars Neo, the latter being incredibly fucking awesome and something all of you should have. Cybertron Prime was more than just his features. The toy was incredibly sturdy. Oh you don't like the mouth? No worries, just flip the switch(literally!), and the MASK covers it! FUCK! That's not all, Cybertron Prime was basically a futuristic Optimus heavily rooted in G1 looks. I liked it so much in fact, that it was hard for me to say which was better, this one or Classics Prime! The MegaGalvatron was cool. Jetfire was decent. Soundwave was the 1st fully articulated Soundwave figure AND was pretty unique, and retained some sort of functional tape-deck! I'm a big fan of Cybertron Soundwave. Primus was detailed as hell. Just look at the surface in planet mode....I was like WTF this is great. I just didn't like how if you lost the Cyber key, you're fucked; you can't transform it AFAIK without it. While Cybertron won't claim the glory and relevance that RID/Car Robots had, it did a damn good job of putting TF's back in the right direction. Nearly the entire line had fully articulated figures. Full articulation became standard towards the end of G2, and was used all throughout Beast Wars. So Beast Machines, and some of RID was seen as a step back. The latter not so much because it was the return of vehicle alt modes AND full articulation on some new molds, especially Prime. In comparison, Armada seemed like a big step back, with Energon making some halfway steps, and with Cybertron finally going back to full articulation(for the most part). So as you can see, I enjoyed Cybertron quite a bit. Which ones did you buy? Which ones did you hate, or like? |

The figures are essentially the only thing that keep me into TF's since Beast Machines, as I've never enjoyed any of the new shows.

Agreed, TF Cybertron was a great series. Actually, I re-started to collect TFs about halfway through the TF Cybertron release cycle, since I was a kid.
Standout molds for me are: - Primus - Evac - Armorhide - Landmine - Excellion - Sideways - Snarl - Cyro Scourge - Downshift - Galvatron What was great about the series is that it had a blend of both vehicles and beast type alternate modes. Very cool.

I only got Soundwave from Cybertron, I was pretty much out of Transformers by then. I liked that Vector Prime looked like the Axalon from Beast Wars |

I loved this series it filled the gap in my collection after Beast Wars I dont buy anything from Armada or Energon, Cybertron had a g1 for the new kids feel to it and I loved the articulation. We have it pretty good now though, cant complain My only gripe is how fast new stuff is coming out I cant get everything I want.

I really loved the Transformers: Cybertron line, even though I didn't buy a whole lot of them. It had a lot of the elements that I really like about the property. I'm not married to the G1 style, so any time the toys can capture the "spirit" of the brand, it's a great (and rare) thing.

One thing I do miss from Cybertron are frequent Ultra releases. The voyagers weren't shabby either. Quickmix RULES! Just wish the robot was more secure. Love the minicon integration and the head sculpt.

As a toyline, yeah it had some fantastic stuff. They got past a lot of the problems Armada with the gimmicks. Also theyproduced some of the biggest bots since Fort Max.
As a show it was up and down (as much of the A/E/C series was) |
