I went to TRU last night and decided to take in all of the Star Wars stuff for some time to just see what's going on...much like TF, I'm pretty "casual" with Star Wars toys.
So I have to ask an expert here....what is going on here!? Ok, 1st of all I picked up the ESB Bobba Fett and I gotta say, that is an AWESOME figure. I haven't been this pleased with a SW fig in a long time. Fantastic detail, holds his weapons nice..great figure. Now, I'm seeing "save 5 UPC for a free Bobba"...what is the difference aside from the firing rocket with the free figure and the one I just got? Here's another: There are the Clone Wars figures, the classic carded movie figure...and something else in a blue card. I was gonna cop the IG-88 but passed for now....are there any significant differences with the figures themselves? I plan on getting Dengar and doing a Bounty Hunter display...will it work? Why wasn't the IG-88 or Bosk released on the movie cards? I see they still have "Hoth Patrol"--is this a peg warmer or should I buy it up. I want to buy it because I like it...however the price is keeping it there for now. Having said that, if you tell me it's already hard to find (I say this because I remember seeing it awhile ago)--then I'll splurge and buy it. Last and most important: AT-AT...Ok 1 see the one everyone was talking about with the Speeder Bike...now I see one where the box looks like the original. I take it the one in the original box is the original AT-AT and the new one is well...the new one?!...My TRU had them both at the same price..109.99 I think.....I just thought it was kind of odd having both of them on the shelf like that, what's the difference? Star Wars toys: An anxiety attack for the uninitiated. Thank you in advance! |

Free Bobba is a Vintage styled figure (not vintage carded, actual vintage looking figure) The picture on the sticker shows a vintage looking 1979 style figure. That's what you're getting
Clone Wars carded figures are Clone Wars "stylized" figures from the TV Show Vintage carded figures are modern figures on vintage cards Blue cards (also known as Legacy carded figures) are modern figures (a lot of these are re-releases from the past couple of years, in fact even some of the vintage carded figures are re-releases) Both AT-AT's are the same, the only difference is the packaging I don't know what Star Wars items are peg warmers or not, but I've found that 95% of the time, everything Star Wars will become easy to obtain, so I'd say wait it out Last edited by Shogi; 10-09-2010 at 04:27 PM.. |

AT-AT is the same, both are the new bigger version. Blue box is mass retail release the vintage box is a TRU exclusive.

If you are talking about the "Hoth Patrol" with Hoth Luke, Tauntaun, and Wampa, those have been seriously shelf warming at my 2 closest TRU stores. I've been waiting to see if they will go on clearance, but they never do. I think the regular price is too high.
Regarding the Boba Fett mail away. Keep in mind you don't need 5 Vintage carded figures. Any 5 Star Wars figures will work from Star Wars Build-a-Droid, Saga Legends, and/or The Clone Wars figures. I'd say anything from the newest carded releases and even the releases previous to the "Shadow Of The Dark Side" packaging. SOTDS is the newest packaging you see today, so I'm referring to the one just before this. I'm pretty sure even the one previous to that as well. I'm referring to the "clone trooper/storm trooper helmet" card release. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but the mail away vintage style Boba Fett has the infamous firing missile that was taken out as a running change due to safety reasons. |

As for UPC's the paperwork says certain assortment numbers from certain lines are to be used (These numbers include everything that's been released for the past 2-3 years, like the clone trooper helmet cards you were talking about) but there have been a few people on other sites that claim they've used UPCs from stuff as old as the Power of the Force figures back when Kenner was making them (Course these people could have been lying too ) |

Quick tip. If you're going to be buying vintage carded figures, get them at Target. They're 2 bucks cheaper than TRU.

I took home a Saga Legends Chewbacca. I gotta say the figure itself is very nice, I'm a bit dissapointed in how he holds the crossbow though. Nothing to "bash it" about, still a cool figure......If it's true about older UPCs.....wow, I got lots of carded crap from the prequels and POTF! |
