I used to collect wrestling figures hardcore back when Jakks made the first bone crunching Superstars Series 1 stopped around 2001 then got some here and there for Classics Superstars and Divas. But I had to get Sting been waiting for one in scale with my Classics can't wait for 80's surfer Sting to come out him and some Divas like Velvet Sky I will get from TNA.Some Mattel Legends I have seen is drawing me in as much as I try to refuse.Guys like Ricky Steamboat and Macho Man figs.Literally guys I watched as a kid and through the 90's I might have to get

I was going to mention that both lines fail because they're in the wrong scale. Bring back the Build 'n' Brawl!

I've seen em' same figures as series 1 for the most part, just new poses, HOF logo on the upper left side and some cheesy paper HOF trophy in the lower right hand corner. I personally can't get into the new Mattel figures at all. Some look fine, but others are dreadful. Jakks had the same issues though, but IMO not as bad. Scale was a huge issue tho. I'm a MOC purist so the ab crunch that EVERY figure seems to come with looks HORRIBLE in the package and I refuse to purchase anything with it. I think that Mattel made a tactical error in releasing the Legends set this early though. If you look back starting from the LJN line collectors had YEARS between the lines to work up an appetite to buy more. Jakks JUST finished the classics set what a lil over year ago? While collectors invested thousands of dollars and space are we now supposed to hop on board for round 2 right away this soon? Not happening and I've spoken to a few others who feel the exact same way. Not to mention Jakks Classics first hit the market at $9.99 a piece back in the day, now we're up to $14.99 for the legends. I realize inflation, but with everything else involved it certainly doesn't help. I just don't know how many people are up for a whole nother plunge for basically the same characters this early. |

I have every single wrestling figure made in usa ever. IMHO Mattel has created the perfect wrestling fig.
1 durable 2 articulation 3 real scan 4 real size my collection started with origional AWA remco figs then the origional wwf ljns. Jimmy Snuka & Road Warriors were my first figs & what drew mw away from Joe till last year. Mattel has mastered it. The new Hall of Fame figs best I have ever seen. Jakks was good for it's time with no competion(toybiz or what ever WCW was is a joke), Jakks is cheap and unrealistic. those fig made me pick the path I choose in life www.logansworldonline.com |

Jakks was great, but Mattel has set the new standard for wrestling action figures.
I will collect both, but Mattel is the line for more discerning toy collectors. |
