My meager toy collection has outgrown the single wall alloted for it inside my house, so I'm pondering an expansion in the garage, where I would have a lot of space to play with. My question, then, is this:
Will extreme temperatures inside the uninsulated garage put undue stress on my toys? I live in Northern California, where winter weather is rainy and can reach near-freezing, while summer is humid with temps up near 100-110 on average. Not every day, but it happens enough that I would worry. It can get cold in the garage, but I'm more aware of it on those hot days. It's pretty toasty in there. So let me know what you guys think. The future of my toy collection depends on it! |

Yep, I had some stuff stored in my attic when I was a kid and it got all sorts of warped. Due to the heat.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and it's pretty much 65 degrees year round, so none of the houses around here have AC, and I keep all my windows open year round. The day before yesterday we had a crzy heat wave and it got up to 105 degrees in some parts. When I got home from work a ton of my joes had fallen over because their legs got soft. Now, once every 20 years probably isn't going to kill them, but if you live somewhere like Sacramento, it probably wouldn't be a good idea to keep your Joes in the garage.

Im in the central valley and im worried for my guys in the garage right now. They are in bins and have been put away for awhile. My figures do fall over and are week at the feet because of the hear but that is just the 25th ones. The vehicles do seem ok, maybe in time it may cause damage to them, I dont have room for them inside though.

it might cost a lot but you could get some climate control in your garage. Make sure you get the best seal possible on the door, put in heat and ac or possibly even seal the door and turn it into a room. Other than that I don't know what to tell you. If you want to be sure to keep your collection safe that is the best way but it may cost you too much to worry with it.
