anytime you feel that you need to buy something (outside your toyline, hopefully joes) just send the money too me. then after a said amount of time...lets say 1 year you can call me and i will let you know how much money you didnt spend on the ''other'' toylines.... and then tell you thanks for the cash............

For the most part I keep things pretty balanced, I shift my main focus from time to time but its not hard to keep things sane.
Right now my main focus is Marvel Universe for all the characters I have wanted in !:18th scale for years and never got because they didn't exist I still collect GI Joe, Star Wars, Transformers ect but I keep it to specific rules mostly. I do slip and buy a figure or two I don't initially intend to get, but that is only once is a while. But I definatly don't grab everything out there at all, Just what I want. |

I hadn't really collected a toy line every when I got sucked into the SOTA Street Fighter line back in 2005 or so. Trying to find them online got me connected to Fwoosh, and being around there got me hooked on Marvel Legends. Then the 25th Joe line came out and my real collecting habit started. Got connected to the 'Tank and haven't looked back since. But I've always been very selective about what lines and how much of those lines I buy.
this^.

I hate buying a toy line (Marvel Legends) and loving it, and then they decide to trump it by making another (Marvel Universe). Now I am buying the better line and considering selling the old line. Same thing with MOTU...why keep the vintage when it appears they will make all of the figures I care about in the Classics line. If they ever make good MOTU in 4 inch scale that will probably tump the Classics line.
So do I buy them all? Do I settle with the old? Do I sell the old to buy the new? It's so freaking hard to be so OCD about this crap lol.

This thread came along at the right time for me. First, like many, the 25th era line sunk it's teeth in me and I was hooked. So since then I've been an avid Joe collector. I had Joes from when I was little, and now I restore those and work on my ARAH line in between waves of new figs.
But even more recent, I've really enjoyed the new Marvel 3.75 figs. Everytime I hit a store I take a look at those along with the Joes. I can't say I'm totally hooked on those, but it may happen sooner rather than later. |

I was big into collecting Star Wars after the 1995 relaunch. I was so bad that I bordered on OCD completionist. I then started collecting Joes again when they relaunched and collected them side by side until Revenge of the Sith. All my cash went into that line but still had the urge to collect more joes. When I heard that they were doing a 25th line I was pretty sure I was going to skip it. The I saw the 2 5 packs at TRU while having quite a few Star Wars items in my cart. I grabbed the 5 packs put back all the Star Wars stuff and have focused primarily on Joes. with the exception of the marvel universe, iron man and the indiana jones. Joes are my must haves and other 3.75 lines are considered might want to haves. Unfortunately I have lost all interest in Star Wars.

Strawberry Shortcake. I loved those little dessert scented dolls as a child and got sucked back into the line with the purchase of the 2010 SDCC doll. I am an addict. :(

No. The end of toy collecting for me usually isn't associated with me thinking the figures were outdated. I loved the GI JOE and Corps figures in O-ring style. Than they began to make them the VvV way it didn't sit with me nor did the smaller spytroopers figures they were smaller than the ones I had. I turned a blind eye. for me it was Snake Eyes V3 for me. I saw him and was like what is this. Christmas my sister got me Sgt. Rock and Roll, Duke, Spirit Iron Knife, and another Snake Eyes V3. I was hooked and afterwards bougth the 2009 5-pack. Chrome Viper, Zartan, Storm Shadow, Baroness, Cobra Commander/ Hawk, Lady Jaye, Shipwreck, Flint, and Snake Eyes. I saw the 2007 packs but didn't get into it until 09 and I now have over 100+ Figures.
Marvel Legends- I loved me my toybiz figures. These figures were great and IMHO Hasbro hasn't even come close to given us the detail that Toybiz was able to get out of this line. I'm furious they lost the rights to it. I mean I'm very selective with Hasbro because they don't do that great of a job with 6 inches and some of the 3 inchs are horrible but they are 3 3/4 inchs so I can understand that not all detail breaks down. Hasbro has lost my faith in the ML Line. However I like the Icons and Universe that they have. I just don't like how they handle the 6 inch line and wish that these figures would be made more like Toybiz though I am a fan of the women figures they produce. I however do have a complete Holocaust as I hate having incomplete series. It was the x-men five pack that got me here. Beast, Magento, Gambit, Wolverine, and Rogue FTW. I remember when we checked Wal-Mart and they had the gold foil Series 1 Iron Man and Captain America oh the Excitement is something I haven't felt that way in a long time. I would take finding a 12 inch GI Joe Doughboy for $20 dollars or stumbling upon Soldiers of the World for $5 dollars again to make me feel that way. DCSH/DCUC- Oddly enough the first figures I got of this were three bad guys. Mongul, Bizzaro, and Doomsday. I had collected some of the DC Direct but the limited moving killed me. I longed for the DC ML that could make my ultimate dreams come true. When I saw these three at Biglots for $5 dollars I pounced like a King. I always had hated the Mattel/Kenner line tha twas before this because the elbows didn't bend. I held them up to the Marvel/PowerRangers/GIJoe figures and they were never as fun to have. These changed that and I can't wait to be able to show them off with my ML someday. In short I'm thankful for Hasbro not being able to produce a half decent 6 inch line it ended one of the addictions I have for the line leaving me to focus purely on GIJOE and DCUC. Even more exciting is how much JSA love is going down in the past and near future. Atom Smasher wave for the win! |

I dont really know if its getting dragged back in, but Fansproject is my Transformers addiction. I loved the Classics line, then when Hasbro kicks a few more G1 figures out every few years since I have to have them. The Heinki Exclusives costed an arm and a leg and now this year Hasbro is putting out the 2 seekers. Anyway the Fansproject line is FRIKIN SWEET. Aerialbot addition, Bruticus addons, Ultra Magnus, Springer, Rodimus this coming winter. Then you have Perfect Effect, Best Toys, I Gear and so on that come out with customs. I never got into the Armada, Energon, Animated, and all the other stuff in between. Just love what I grew up with.
