Long post everyone, be ready.
So I was going through my local Target recently with their now fully stocked with new stuff toy aisles and decided after picking up a few new PoC G.I.Joes to look down the LEGO aisle for the heck of it. I got to the end and saw that Bionicle was replaced now by this new line called 'Hero Factory'. Looking them over out of curiousity, I see that there are the heroes themselves for $8, some of the villians, which are clearly bigger then the heroes, for $13, and two more villains in even bigger boxes for $20. Anyway, I look over the designs and for some reason I see Bayverse Transformers in them a little in terms of design (at least in my mind), and decide...'Why not? They're cheap, so I'll get one.' I pick up the white hero named Stormer due to his cool looking weapon arm and the Iron Man-ish looking helmet. I was waiting for Toys R Us to open shortly after and decided to have a look at him then, opening him up and seeing not too many pieces to put together. I assemble him... Wow, these things have a lot of articulation with ball joints and stuff. Only thing missing is elbow and knee joints and maybe a bit better way of doing the weapon arm... Anyway, something clicked on within me that these were cool and I must have more. Like a druggie's first time being hooked instantly. O_o So when TRU opened, I found a Masterpiece Grimlock (the reason I went to TRU mainly), which I picked up, but them proceeded to the LEGO section and pick up another hero in black now called Stringer. Now this afternoon after my early B-Day meal at Famous Dave's...I went to Target again and this time picked up the main baddie Von Nebula, one of his henchmen Meltdown, and another hero, the green one named Breez. The villains, unlike the heroes whom seem to have a universal building design, you actually had to work at to assemble and dang was the main baddie a long construction project with tons of pieces. Thing is...I enjoyed doing it. Going through all the pieces and assembling this big baddie, the end result was a wicked looking robot. Yes, I am offically hooked on this LEGO toyline. Never have I been hooked on anything LEGO before. I never cared for Bionicle, but for some reason Hero Factory clicks with me. Maybe it's the fact they have a basic thing 'heroes vs. villains' concept, or maybe because the characters kind of remind me of Transformers slightly. Just something with them has it so I'm planning on buying all the heroes and villains eventually. *sigh* Anyone else getting into these? ---------------------------------------- Oh, and here's a link to all the figures in the line so far from LEGO themselves for those curious.... I will have to look at these in the store ...but if Lego ever wanted me to go bankrupt, all they need to do is make GI Joe legos!
I am contemplating starting a Star Wars lego collection but the stuff is so darn pricey, yet looks AWESOME!

Bionicle/Hero Factory Thread - Page 715 - TFW2005 - The 2005 Boards What drew me in to the further myself was there is a story. Just most fo the details seem to be on the offical LEGO site... The good guys are basically kind of a elite task force that deals with emergency situations such as rogue robot attacks and what-not. Each having their own unique abilities/weapons. The leader of the villains was once a hero himself, but turned and wants to destroy the heroes as well as his old leader, whom is the leader of the heroes seen on the shelf now. They even have a comic series going on the offical site right now focusing on one of the rookie team members. They're really working on getting this toyline noticed with all kinds of stuff. |
