I am a non smoker and I seriously can't stand cigarettes. I mean some of my friends smoke and they really keep it to themselves, go outside, won't light up in a car etc etc...I just hate the smell of it.
I might be overeacting here but it drives me NUTS when I buy something that smells like cigarette smoke. Here is the thing, like a month ago I bought a MOC TMNT..thing got to my house and I was all excited, noticed the bubble was just a tad bit yellow--I smelled it and it REEKED of cigarette smoke. Today, I get a small bubble envelope in the mail and it's a damn near mint Raptor with falcon and pack. I take it out, seriously...I opened up the package and it smelled like an f'ing ashtray. So, as much as I hate to take water to things, I took some anti bacterial hand soap and had to lather him, rinse him down, etc. Same thing with the cloth wings--which I was really affraid to do. Look, I'm not comming down on anyone for smoking, I just think if you are gonna B/S/T your stuff with others you should DEF say "they were owned by a smoker". I feel that "smelling like cigarette smoke" should be a condition of the toy. |

Being a smoker, I do agree with you. I try my best to limit smoking around my collection, but every once in a while, mainly when I'm customising/painting or if it's late at night and I don't want to walk 2 floors down to the outside, I smoke around em...and I have noticed, mainly with Stormy and Snow Job, that they get yellowed a bit.
It's a good point though, and hopefully people who have traded or bought from me hasn't had too much of an adverse effect

One of the reasons I stopped. I'll be a year without one on 29/06/10.

You're right, PV.
True, the smell of cigarettes is really sticky. Quote:

I have a small room where i work (have tools, a working table, computer etc). I also keep my wip customs there...now Pilot Scarlett, that had a major repaint, is not white, it's tan. I don't mean "a bit yellowed", i mean friggin sand colour.

Mine were smoke free for about a year, but recently moved the "toy room" from the 3rd bedroom out to the back porch which USED to be the smoking lounge... It's a pain in the ass.

You just have to be patient with smoked toys. I've bought a few collections that were bad with smoke smell and I left them out for a few months and the smell diminished quite a bit. Give it a few years and the smoke smell isnt even noticeable when you sniff real close to the plastic.

I smoke, but only in the evenings and out in my garage. Can't stand the smell when I'm not actively smoking a cigarette.
The house and cars are totally off limits to the stuff. When I purchased the home and was washing the walls I was disgusted with what was coming off them. I do agree you that people should be upfront as to whether it came from a smoking environment.

Why not? Come down on them all you want! Smokers are the stupidest retards on planet. Name 1 thing positive about smoking. It's ruins their lungs, throat & voice. It's expansive. It's totally pointless, serves no purpose. It's annoying to non-smokers. And second hand smoke is more deadly than actually smoking. My mother has lung cancer because the family chain smoked & she breathed in all their second hand smoke when she was younger. I'd like to put every stupid ass smoker on a boat send it out to the middle of the ocean & nuke it! They do it to look cool. But the jokes on them, it doesn't make them look cool. It makes them look like weak minded followers.
And yeah, I got some toys that reeked like an ash tray. Took months for it to eventually wear off. I tried everything but nothing would get rid of that disgusting smell. My second girlfriend was a smoker, NEVER AGAIN!!!! Kissing her was totally disgusting! Bitch told me she quit. Yeah right! As if I couldn't tell she was lying. |
