I'm a bit of a "clean-freak" myself, so everything I have gets wiped down and "dissinfected". There is no way to know where anything has been or who touched it but there is a big difference when something just reeks of smoke---or anything else for that matter. |

Wgen buying and selling vintage toys, odors of all kinds get on them. Everyone may not be as sensitive to smoke as you and may not notice. I have a different issue, I'm allergic to mold, I have been getting moldy figures for years. I've opened joes that looked mint but smelled musty as hell and sure enough you open them up and there packed with mold. If smokers need to advertise, dirty people should have to as well. But the simple fact is many times vintage toys are bought from flea markets, yard sales, basements , attics , sheds and even barns. I would much rather people sell them to me as is and get rid of the smell myself which is super easy so long as you have plastic a dryer sheet gentle unscented liquid soap and water. But if you would rather strangers smell sniff and breathe all over your toys instead of cleaning all the vintage toys you buy from strangers who may have God knows what, well then gross and more power to ya.
People who don't clean this stuff when it smells of smoke and don't think about germs and disease are just complaining without thought and thats a gross untidy collection

Why not? Come down on them all you want! Smokers are the stupidest retards on planet. Name 1 thing positive about smoking. It's ruins their lungs, throat & voice. It's expansive. It's totally pointless, serves no purpose. It's annoying to non-smokers. And second hand smoke is more deadly than actually smoking. My mother has lung cancer because the family chain smoked & she breathed in all their second hand smoke when she was younger. I'd like to put every stupid ass smoker on a boat send it out to the middle of the ocean & nuke it! They do it to look cool. But the jokes on them, it doesn't make them look cool. It makes them look like weak minded followers.

Oh agree if something smells bad it smells bad, but different people are sensative to different things. There are 5 steps in my opinion to cleaning an item. If you follow those steps there clean and odor free without damage |

Agreed thats why, I wipe them down. Thats a bit OCD though. Most germs die on plastic over 6 monthes time. Most figures do not make it from China to the states in less time then that, from packaging to retail shelf

I bought a car from a smoker once because it was in pristine condition (other than the smell). But this was the kind of car smoker that uses the ashtrays and smokes with windows closed. The car reeked. I took like 2 months of airing it and daily use of that special anti tobacco freshener spray to get rid of it.
Those sprays will probably help with figures too. |
