Ummm...
People already make custom Lego minifigs, including SW, using actual Lego minifigs AND the many aftermarket accessory shops which include parts, weapons, decals, etc. What makes your mini so special? Because it's blank? You can get solid colored Lego figs also, which would be considered "blanks". I'm not trying to bust your chops - I just don't understand the draw for a product like this. To me, it's basically the same thing Lego has, only blank from the start. If I'm missing something, please lmk. Last edited by Obi-Shinobi; 06-04-2010 at 12:48 PM.. |

LEGO parts will be compatible with "the Blanks" but they are not LEGO brand and we have no association with them (legalities blah blah). As far as the common colors that are sometimes available from parts stores, we plan on beating them on price. Many custom "mini-fig" parts are very hard to find in certain colors, have never been made in certain colors, or have never been made period. We will specialize in those areas...accessories and unique colors. Flesh Tones for instance...people are many colors...not yellow : ) We will also offer unique face and body decal designs. I know LEGO customizers and they have to scrounge for certain parts and pay big money for some parts...that's why you see certain $30 and $40 figures actually selling for that price. Our products may help their business and to help lower the price for everyone while still making them money. So what do the blanks" have to offer in the marketplace? Price, Color Selection, and Unique Face/Body Decals BESIDES ALL THAT.....THE MAIN POINT IS THIS; We are treating this as a stand-alone action figure line, creating our own original designs to collect. They simply have the ability for creative minds to customize them. They also have the "charm" of a model kit...assembly required which is 1/2 of the fun most of the time!

I realize that you, or "the blanks", are not Lego and/or associated with Lego. That's a no-brainer. My point is - for what you're claiming people/customizers can do with "the blanks", they can already do using readily available brand products. As for price, I can piece together a "blank"/solid color Lego fig for a few bucks... it's called Bricklink.com. So again - what's really going to sway me as a potential customer to switch to "the blanks" for a base fig?
As for accessories, there are several shops that have been around for years at this point offering custom whatever parts (guns, swords, helmets, etc.) for decent prices. Are you going to be producing similiar parts to what's already out there? Based on what's out there, and for how long, this doesn't seem like the best financial venture to undertake. How much of the Lego customizing community are you aware of? Have you actually seen any of the custom parts shops? How much research have you done into this community? You have to understand - I'm interested in what you're doing, only because I believe everyone should follow their dreams. And hopefully be successful too! |

I understand and appreciate your concern and thank you.
I have done much R&D on this project and it will not get me rich, but will be profitable. (none of my projects are getting me rich, but it will all add up in the end). We will do similar parts to whats out there along with a few new parts, but again, should be less expensive on like items. Also 100% plastic injected molded, not casted at home, so there may be a difference in quality as well as price. Worst case scenario, I customize them myself...I know mini-fig customs sell well (I have a friend that sells over 5000 a month!) And my cost will be considerably cheaper than even brick-link : ) (But I won't have too lol) I will say this...to be competitive solid existing colors will be priced lower than items that I will have no competition on, that will make all of the difference in the world....just a numbers game : ) Quote:

Like I said, I'm interested in what you're doing as well as curious to what will drive the market for them. I'd also be interested in getting any manufacturing info from you, if you would devulge, to further some toy ideas I have. Shoot me a PM if you'd like, or don't. |
