I've been kicking around the idea of coming out with a new line of "action heroes", I guess you'd call them. Very much like GI Joe, but with a more gritty, realistic overtone to the line - not the cartoony violence like we're used to from the cartoon, and the bright colors like what came later in the ARAH line.
This idea came when I started collecting bbi's Elite Force 1:18 line. The figures were pretty detailed, but none of them came with any real personality like the Joes did - most of them didn't even have names, earlier in the line, just jobs. So, I started making my own Joe-type filecards for them, with real names, codenames, primary and secondary MOS, military branch and rank, etc. Then, I thought it would be neat if, it were possible to release my own line of similar action figures, that they would be part of a more covert elite force, not sanctioned by any government, but would have ex-military, law and mercenaries from all over the world, who would go into countries to topple dictatorships in small teams of 5-8. These would be released periodically throughout the year, correlating to the missions these people were on, and would come with codes that you could take online, and see what those figures would be up to. There would be re-releases of some figures, with different outfits/gear depending upon what mission they were on. And naturally, some of these figures would be killed, and would never be released again. For no reason at all, I wanted to have this action figure storyline take place 30-40 years into our future, so they would have some slightly cooler gear. The problem this kind of line would present is that there would be no real good guys vs. bad guys theme, and while it wouldn't be impossible to make bad guys, it would be slightly more challenging than like ARAH. I'm still kicking this idea around. What really sparked the idea was, aside from my love of GI Joe and my military background, was reading about the 3D priniting machines on the horizon (there's a thread in the customs forum about this). I just want to create vehicles and characters, and there would be stories derived from this line much like with the Joe comics, except I think it would take place mostly online, sort of like Joes crossed with Webkinz. I have no natural business abilities. I do, however, possess writing, design and drawing abilities. Anyone interested in this? These are some examples of what I've been doing with my own HISS redesign (you may have seen in another thread): HISS driver; http://s304.photobucket.com/albums/n...t=scan0005.jpg HISS on AutoCAD; http://s304.photobucket.com/albums/n...t=scan0004.jpg Initial HISS Sketches; http://s304.photobucket.com/albums/n...rrent=scan.jpg |

The autoCAD looks less like a warthog from your sketch and more like the orig. Looks good.

I really like that HISS MK-V! If you can modify that canopy to resemble a two seater version of the 'HISS tank w/Night Creeper' and provide a transport area that has room for six, I'd take four! If not...I'll just take four!

i'm thinking of making it a 2 seater, and the rear will hold several troops - between 6-10. the crew would be 3-5.

I really like your autoCAD version of the HISS!
Very nice...have you done all the angles...and perhaps you might want to try solid works. It is a program from autodesk that does a much better job of doing design work for toys or perhaps Rhino as well. Over all great job.

I was also thinking that, to keep this a bit more marketable towards kids, that I could forego the "realism" and make it a bit more mad max-ish. just another idea.
