It was from the late 80s, IIRC. They were these sets of buildings (not the Building Blasters from Kenner that were made of girders) that came with a goofy vehicle with a character inside (I didn't care much for the vehicle). It was a demolition toy and you used the vehicle to tear down the building. There were these sets that I had:
"Abandoned Gas Station" - It was a run down gas station with a yellow gas pump out front and the sign on the facade said "Pump n Munch" "The Bridge" - It was a short bridge you could tear down (the least exciting one in the line). "Condemned High School" - This was an old high school with pillars out front. There was a combo set with a Dentist's Office (which was the gas station redone in different colors and had a green trash can out front) and a bridge as well. I would love to find out the name of this line, I have checked ebay and can not seem to find it anywhere!! I think it may have been made by Tonka, but I am not sure. |

I wish I had a picture, but I don't (they dissappeared from my stuff years ago).
The gas station was kind of a red brick building, with a yellow gas pump out front. The front of the building had a break-away window with a board across it that said "keep out". and there was a plastic business style door that you could "kick in". The whole set had a dented, distressed look to it. The roof had fake holes in it, and the front window had panes broken out of it. The side walls had a built in horizontal crack which allowed for the demolition element to it. |

Scale wise it was a little bigger than 3 3/4 joes. It would have fit more with a 5-6" figure better. I used the gas station as zartan's dreadnok base of operations.

I've looked through every lead I could find.. The Gas station name is a real gas station. LOL the only thing that I found were the kenner building blasters.. Sorry. If we could at least figure out the name of the company who made them..

Looked through some sites listing 80s toys. I did finally get to see a picture of Dr. Claws car! STA: Inspector Gadget: Dr. Klaw Car i remember seeing it as one of the other toys on a box at Toys R Us. But course they didn't have it and i never did see em get it.
