We've finally reached the final piece of the trilogy on the Bill Merklein concept art band wagon. We didn't put these with the Joe concept art since it doesn't fit with the sub forum, so Gyre and I have thrown the rest of it here so that all can see. Like the Joe art, these are internal copies of the original art given to Bill used to sculpt the 2-ups of the figures. Also like the Joe art, these are for sale, and both Gyre-Viper and I will be accepting offers to relay to Bill for his approval.
Credit and thanks again to Bill Merklein for showing these and to Gyre-Viper for being the super sleuth who put all this together. Inhumanoids An interesting story behind this line. Bill said that when he was working on this line he had a little bit more freedom than usual sculpt wise so he allowed the kids who lived in the apartment complex with him to help sculpt the figures with him, working on a little piece of bark or rock on the side so that when they got the figures as toys, they could tell their friends they helped make that. Interesting notes about this line, Bill sculpted the holograms for all the visionaries (back then that's how you made them is what he told us). Back then he worked with visa cards designing the holograms for the credit cards, so the visionaries holos and the BAT holo he was a big part of. Also, Merklynn the character in the cartoon is an homage to Bill. |

AIR RAIDERS:
Originally Air Raiders were a counter to Starcom and were to have magnets on their feet, but that was changed as the line developed according to Bill. AD&D |

Given that I collected both series, I can see that. Both were awesome toys.
