Quick info on anyone considering the McFarlane Prince of Persia line.
I've got a handful of 4 of these little jerks, sorry no pics, but I wany to let you know how they measure up. Good: 1)The scale is much closer to Joes than most other lines in this size. The Prince himself is a little shorter, but the bad guys are the same height. Maybe Jake Gylen-whatever is short? 2)The articulation is pretty decent. The knees are single joints and the waist is a swivel, but its all pretty good. The hips are slightly resricted since they are on a ball and socket. The best part is the necks are on a double balled barbell, which increases motion. It doesnt improve it as much as you'd think, but it allows heads with long hair and turbans to move well. Except for Dagger Prince, his scarves keep his head to a swivel. 3)The paint looks really nice, with some washes that bring out detail but are much more subtle than 90s McFarlane. There is little if any actual plastic showing, which gives a great, uniform appearance. 4)The sculpts are very nice, of course. They are very well proportioned and the face sculpts, combined with the paint are very realistic. Great small details and textures. The Bad: 1) The paint looks great, but all that paint is going to have some random slop. The eyes are all actually well placed, but you're going to see some with spots on their noses and stuff that can't be scraped off since the whole toy is painted. 2) The ball hips like to pop out and there's paint peeling in some joints. The Ugly 1) This guy named Setam is supposed to include a sword according to the package. No sword, no spot for one. 2) The swords all look really nice and came out very straight, but they feel like they will snap if bent at all. The Prince's back scabbards feel rubbery and flimsy 3) Bad guy(I think) Zolm. His leg broke off at the hip instantly, reminding me that McFarlane produced these. He's got a long skirt thing which will make any sort of glue repair even more challenging. So, I think they're pretty nifty if you can pick your paint, and I'd love to see the barbell neck in more lines. Make sure you hold that receipt tightly until you move the joints around. If the film is a disaster, definitely grab a few on clearance! |

Got some pics of how they compare to the Joes?
I'm thinking of getting some to use as Desert Storm Shadow's henchmen.

Got the Salem, he is tight, needs to cost about 5 bucks though, esp with no accessories. He is gonna be a terrorist in my world.

I got the horse and price set and will probably stop there, the others just don't interest me right now. Not too interested in the movie either so that is probably part of it.

Another downer is no peg holes in the feet and no stands.
