When I heard they were going to do BA He Man & Skeletor, Mattel said it would probably be snap on and off pieces for the battle damage.
However, when I actually saw BA He Man in a magazine, it just pissed me off. Really Mattel? You have all these devoted fans, jumping through hoops online and paying good $ to you or on the secondary market, but you can't spring for some actual functioning battle armor? That's what made the original battle armor so cool, the action feature! I understand new molds cost $, but God knows you get to reuse so many molds for arms & legs, etc with this line, you guys should have sprung for the real thing for the fans' sake. You could reuse the Battle Armor Torso for other dudes like Fisto, Jitsu, and Clamp Champ, hell, how about a BA Merman or Man at Arms? Seriously, if you can't make Man-E- Faces right, just don't make him. Yes this is a rant, sorry I didn't tell you sooner. |

Am I missing something about this?
Are you upset that the BA He-Man has removeable chest plates instead of the spinning ones like the vintage figure?

If they do Man-E-Faces they might just make 3 interchangeable heads which probably wouldn't be fun.

If they did a rotating piece for Tri-Klops, they'll do one for Man-E-Faces, which is likely why we won't see it for a couple of years.

But would that mean he could look up, down, left & right now? They may consider that more fun

As someone that had the one from the 80's, I'm kind of glad they did not choose that route.
I dropped mine and that spring never worked again. All I was left was that trash rattling around.

My instant thought was how dumb a Man-E-Faces would be if done wrong, but he'd have a new head, so it would function.
They've apparently got the entire line planned until 2016, and there are so many characters who were just an excuse to produce their action feature. Mechanek will probably have a second elevated head, which is kind of lame. I'd hope Rokkon and Stonedar, as dumb as they are, could fold into rocks. Ram Man will have to be all new, will his legs at least extend without spring action? I guess it depends on the line's success. I haven't been able to get into this line because of the crazy rush and prices involved. I checked out my 200X stuff the other day and was impressed by all the unique sculpts and how many figures had more than one action feature! I can do without the button activated slashing actions, but character defining features are a must. Two-Bad just needs 2 heads, but Extendar should be able to stretch without having to play Lego for half an hour. Roboto's got to have a clear chest! I'd suggest even making the more complex characters part of the Battle Cat/Beast type assortment going on, but maybe include some extra bonus stuff to make them a large special set. Modulok will probably arrive this way It seems like removing He-Man's armor and prying out the piece is a bit time consuming for what was a quick, small cosmetic change that made the original cool. I hope the fact that these expensive things sell out in minutes gives them a more reasonable budget. |
