As some of you may have read in my post in the July Hauls thread I had a problem with one of my 25th Anniversary Snake Eyes figures. The left hand started to break when I twisted it so I stopped. Usually I don't have a problem with this on my Joes, DC Heroes, and other figures that have rubber hands but I would like to know how to avoid this from happening again.
I know it is rare to have this problem but since the first of the two 25th Anniversary figures that I have opened so far had this problem I am a little worried. Any advise would help. The last thing I want to do is have to buy another 5 pack because a hand on a figure breaks off.

Maybe stick it hot boiling water a little at a time not burning yourself. I think the plastic should loosen when you do this. Be careful.

Thanks Flash. I thought I heard that somewhere before but I wasn't sure if it would help in this case. If I have this problem again I will try it before I get to the point of breaking it like I did on Snake Eyes.

The old "take it back and by another one" would work too.
I have all 15 figures now and I havent had a problem like this on any of them. Must have been a QC issue with your Snake-Eyes |

My single pack Snake Eyes' left hand had me very worried, as it was very soft and flexible and seemed like it was going to break. However I kept twisting it, popping it out and back in, and discovered that its probably due to the peg being a bit too long. I am not really sure but as flexible as it feels, it has not and does not seem like it will break on mine.
I did pop mine into the freezer when I got home, either the boil trick or freezing works. Freezing might work more since it makes the plastic more solid. I am not sure. EDIT I noticed that my figure's left hand eventually developed a breakage. Luckily it did not sever, and I was able to pull it out of the wrist socket. I applied super glue to the crack, and hopefully this will dry when I get home later. If all goes well it should be able to plug back into the wrist socket with full articulation retained. As a preventive measure, I will probably shave off a bit of the plastic on the peg so that it fits in all the way, I think the fact that the peg was a bit too long contributed to the eventual breakage. The right hand was placed all the way in the right socket and had no breakage whatsoever. Lets hope this shaving mod fixes this completely after the glue dries. Wish me luck! Deathx360, does the left hand stick out a bit more than the right hand and have its peg semi exposed? Thats what happened with mine. Hope yours is fixed man. |

I decided to look at the hand again today and saw that it was almost broken in two so I pulled on it, braking it, and pulled the peg out. I then decided to find some super glue. After discovering I didn't have any, more like gave up looking after five minutes, I found a piece of metal, stuck it in the hand, put the peg in the wrist, and shoved the other end I cut into the peg. It's not 100% but good enough for display.

A little WD40 on a Q-tip should work.

Mine eventually started to break, so I shaved off some plastic on the wrist peg, and shaved off some plastic from the socket within the forearm to lessen the friction.
After a few hours, I plugged the hand back in and not only does it fit much better but it also retains its pose and is not flimsy at all. I fixed it! |
