I don't buy very many Transformers. As it stands now, my collection stands at 5 TF/ROTF bots (Sideswipe being the only onscreen, Wreckage, Bludgeon, and now Scattorshot and Skystalker).
I bought two of these yesterday because somehow I managed to find one of them marked down to $4.00, probably by accident. The other was around $7.00, so it sorta evens out. No new Joes on the shelf, and Marvel isn't appealing to me any more. I chose to review Skystalker because he actually seems pretty badass. I have two pictures, not my own. If the links/thumbnails give anyone any problems, please let me know. It's happened before with some webcam porn site crap, and I have no idea how that gets in there. I'm not on the tank to share porn, and I do not condone using this as a place for that. Besides, if you somehow can get excited over Transformers AND naked ladies in the same way... well, I don't know. You may be pretty awesome. So, here goes the images. If it causes any problems, let me know or mods can fix it (please). Skystalker is one of the nearly unheard-of bots from the Micromaster days (damn, weren't those awesome?). Hasbro's reaching deeper into that barrel of characters for ROTF, and I am not really complaining. I don't mind the design of the movie bots, it's sort of a pleasant change from the old "blocky" design that we all still love. In his vehicle form, Skystalker is a... flying thing. Maybe some sort of unmanned aircraft drone, sort of like a Predator drone. Underneath the wings, there are a set of turbines, giving me the impression that the vehicle is capable of vertical takeoff and landing. There is no cockpit, but more or less the character's forehead makes what looks like an optical camera/scanner where a pilot would sit. The pattern across this "stealth" aircraft (as it is described as in the instructions) are actually pretty cool, kinda reminds you of the Metal Gear Ray's construction... which is sort of funny because the vehicle has an "attack mode" where the legs drop from underneath, and it is very similar. In its vehicle form, it is pretty awesome. On the downside, all I can say is that I wish it had some sort of payload- rockets or a machine gun would have been nice. But hey, this is scout class. In his robot form, the bot is still pretty awesome. Lots of flexibility (one of my favorite changes from the old G1 bots) and get this- the scout class normally doesn't do this, but this little guy actually comes with two detachable... weapons... things. Hooks, kama, or some sort of hammers. All I know is that it can probably smash some asses. The weapons can either fit into some pegholes in his hands, or lock onto his wrists. Either way, it ends up looking cool. On the downside of the bot form, his feet are spring-activated, making them "clamp down" when they aren't standing up. This is part of his attack features, I suppose- sort of like some kind of robotic harpy. It gets a little annoying, but if the robot is actually flying, the feet make way for the turbines so he can fight in midair. It would have been much nicer to have a way to lock them in place, though. For being a scout, and since most scout class bots are poop, this one is actually worth it. Oh, and a cool extra feature- in his vehicle form he interlocks with another Decepticon, Mindwipe (stealth fighter). Robot porn, there you go. |
