I found some old stuff the other day and here is what I have. I have NO CLUE what they were called, I just know they from either 1989 or maybe 1990?
A Megatron..that doesnt transform, much smaller. Drives a tank that transforms into...uhhhh....something. Optimus that is the same way. He drives a truck that looks like it turns into a jet or ship of sorts......havent found all the pieces to the trailor so I cant even make that out yet. Bumble Bee- Same, no transforming, has some kind of helicopter back pack, sorta like Matt Trakker. Next questions: If I wanted a the original, or a re-release of Optimus Prime, what am I looking at price wise both loose or MIB? Last...same question for Shockwave and how ellusive are these guys? Thanks! |

Thanks! The re-release of Prime is pretty much the same as the 80's version and goes for around $60-$70 check TFW2005.com B/S/T for him and Shockwave |

The non transforming ones are definately Action Masters
The Prime and Megs were pretty pricey complete back in 2001 or so, I assume they've only gone up in value. Thiose are the only two I still have from the whole US collection |

I didn't have any of the Action Masters, but I really liked the way they looked.
They were the first Transformers that looked great in robot mode, but that's because they couldn't transform. All of the G1 Transformers looked great in their vehicle modes, but once you transformed them into robots they looked like crap and didn't represent their cartoon and comic images. Optimus Prime, Perceptor and Soundwave looked good, and maybe a few others, but most of the G1's looked horrible as robots. Action Masters fixed this. If I had any as a kid I would have used the G1's as vehicles only and then brought in the Action Masters as replacements when it was time to transform to robot mode. The new transformers these days seem to look good in either mode though. Thanks for technology!

Yeah, the Action Masters were kinda neat, I have a few of them. Most of the larger Transformers, like Jetfire and Metroplex, look good in either mode, same for the Dinobots.
