I'm no lawyer, but I was an engineer. The laws of a "reverse engineering" should apply - if you sculpt something yourself, and make a mold of it, and then sell it, there should be enough distinction between the new mold and the original that it should be a non-issue. Trigate has done amazing original sculpts that are vastly superior to Hasbro's work - and yet they are often based on images or even figures, but they are clearly distinct.
I would ask a lawyer where the line is on this. Does adding a pouch or antanae to an existing backpack, making a mold of it, and selling it, constitute a new product or it it too close to the original? How much has to be new to be considered distinct?

Like Cobra Stickers does with stickers and like "whoever" did with the reproduction Star Wars weapons that were produced back in the 90's, that places like Brian's Toys still sell on a regular basis. It seems I will have to go to a lawyer on this one...just hoping someone would have known....to make it easier and cheaper on me LOL.
