here's what I know... they might ask for royalties but if the copyright on their design is expired... usually asking permission is all you have to do. now it obviously varies from company to company... but the asking permission has less to do with 'respect' or anything like that and more to do with however their copyright is set up. sometimes a verbal contract is enough to get through a copyright issue. for a price they might even sell you what you're looking for.

You can't reproduce anything Hasbro owns, legally. Period.
You might get away with it for a while, and if it's small time, you'd likely merely get a C&D, but it's possible you could get sued, too. But yeah... the law says no actual reproductions without Hasbro's permission. I promise you Cobra Stickers isn't paying Hasbro anything...they could not afford to license the product...it would be millions to do so.

I want to know for various reasons....one being how my own accessories and "display" patent is protected and for how long.....I own the patent and can't find this information anywhere...and nobody at the patent office that knows anything....will return phone calls.

There are three different areas of law with regards to "intellectuall property:" patent, copyright, trademark. Each differ on what sorts of things are being protected. Anyway, BitLaw: A Resource on Technology Law has links to the actual wording of the laws as the appear on the books. For the most part copyright, trademark, and patent are covered by federal law, so the reference is the USC (united state code). depending on what state you are in that state may also have its own laws.

The law mentions Hasbro? heheh....respectfully...I am looking for the law or where I can find it, not opinions.....the law is very "hard to find" regarding this matter.

To be really safe, you have to come up with all new designs that are uniquely yours. However, that isn't even a guarantee. I never saw any similarities between Bratz and Barbie, but Mattel got a Court Order saying that Bratz infringed upon their Barbie trademarks.

licensing isn't as expensive as you think, it all depends on what you are licensing it for. but very few licenses are million dollar licenses. I'd bet you could get the license for stickers for a few thousand dollars plus royalties.

From Hasbro? A few thousand dollars isn't worth thier time brother, I've dealt with those bastards before....no better than the EvilBay or PayPal when it comes to giant corporations.
