Me and my brother both army built to a certain degree.
I mostly bought Joes and he bought Cobras. I made generic joes by swapping heads and he had extras of the BATs, Vipers and other troops. It was pretty cool, but it was hard to find vipers and Bats back then, and most of our toys were purchased with our summer work money.

After He-Man, I could have bought the same figure over and over again and my parents wouldn't have noticed. Post Masters of the Universe they stopped trying to remember the names. By the time I really got into Joes, the figures like Eels and Troopers were unavailable and the cartoons seemed to focus on characters like the Alley Viper being individuals. The only figures I had doubles of were the ones that were released again in bright new neon colours, a year or two later.

As a kid my brother & I did very limited troop building...
For new figures we bought: 1. 3 BATs 2. 2 1986 Vipers 3. 2 Techno Vipers From 1986-1989 we hit the Garages sales, flea markets and what not, really hard! We bought as many army builders as we could find. I think we had in terms of used figures: 1. 3 crimson Guards 2. 3-5 Cobra blueshirts & Officers total & 1 grey shirt officer. 3. 3 Snow Serpents 4. 2 Eels 5. 1 mail order HISS driver Last edited by IronMan76; 02-23-2010 at 03:05 PM.. |

I was troop building Cobra forces by xmas 84'. Nowhere near the volume that I do now but by 87-88 I had a respectable Cobra Army.

The thought never even crossed my mind; If I somehow had two of the same Cobra I automatically assumed they were exact twins; the thought that they could be two entirely different people wearing the same Cobra uniform didn't even occur to me. LOL.
