Troop building is truly an adult thing. Like everyone else said no one's parents would buy them multiples of a figure on purpose. Every once in a while my parents and grandparents would ACCIDENTALLY double up and buy my two of a figure but it was never a trooper. Usually it wasn't someone awesome; like two Zuckusses for instance. My sister got two Foot Clan soldiers by mistake and i thought that was baddass as a kid.

i had two hordaks, and two buzz offs as a kid, and boy was i pissed, but then again they weren't army builders... that's what sucks when you have a bday party, and when family members aren't on the same page, you get double of something you don't need..

It seems like there were so many figures to choose from when I was a kid that I never would have bought multiples of one I already had. I remember having very real dreams where I had hundreds of Storm Troopers or Blue Shirts only to wake up dissapointed. Guess I made up for it as an adult by building a huge army.

Nope, 1 of each. All my battles were against armies in my mind, but were really one figure fighting another. Loved the more generic looking/helmeted joes, since they could be multiples in my mind. Disliked figures with beards or mustaches since they were too individualised.

No, not really. I wish I could have to a degree but I never had that luxury. It was hard enough just finding all the figures I wanted and affording them.
