When checking the price of loose vintage Star Wars figures on Ebay I noticed that some were pretty low. Than I saw that those prices were so low because of the fact that the accessories were reproductions.
Being out of the Star Wars circuit for many a year, I didn't even know they were reproducing accessories. I had heard of reproducion vinyl capes, but I wasn't aware that probably every darn accessory was being reproduced. While these reproduction can be cool to replace lost or over-expensive real ones to complete collections, I was wondering if there was a way to know the real deal from the fake? Also, could literally each and every Star Wars accessory be a fake one or are there still a few left untouched by the repro industry? cheers |

These repros were produced in mass quantities back in the mid nineties.
There are a few that have been reproduced in Resin (Amanaman staff, Ewoks Cartoon series accessories) those are resin and look and feel different than the originals also easily breakable. All the other accessories have been reproduced with injection molding. Color and plastic differ from the originals but hard to tell until you have them side by side. General rule..if it looks new, it probably is. Colors tend to be a tad brighter or newer looking. Quote:
