If you started collecting SW back in '95, when the toyline was relaunched with new sculpts and designs, this applies to you.

That was a fun trip down memory lane. Oh the many wasted nights running around hunting for those things when I could get them years later for a buck a piece.
Not that everything from that time period is still nor worth anything. Some pieces like Freeze Frame Weequay still command some coin. |

I know. I think I spent 30 bucks on Leia, cuz I thought she was a limited release. That line was a total waiste of money. Oh well, I don't regret it though. Had a ton of fun chasing down all those toys.

Written by Adam Pawlus of Galactichunter.com... I was there in '95 / 96... great read that brought back a lot of memories. One transition he didn't mention was when orange cards got the holograms of the green cards... I also remember waiting for the theater edition of Jedi Luke... good times.

Yeah, yeah!!! I remember that too. The holograms were a big deal. Didn't they release the theater edition Luke with the rerelease of the films in theaters? |

Dang Movie Theater Luke! I forgot about that dude. I remember waiting at four different theaters that night to get them since I couldn't pay any of my friends to sit with to get multiples. That's how I got my vintage Yak Face, someone traded his for the movie Luke straight up. No fool would do that now

Yeah, theater edition Luke was released on the opening night of Return of the Jedi Special Edition right? The clowns at the theater I went to creased or damaged about every figure they had by the way they were holding them and handing them out... I was a little annoyed at the time. I still have mine carded but like most of the variants in that article, they're long forgotten about.
I also remember getting extremely sick of Lay's potato chips to get a Ghost of Obi Wan figure. I think you had to mail in 3 or 4 bags UPC's? I ended up with a bunch of them and I seriously still gag when I think about eating Lay's. What about Fruit Loops Han Solo? I missed the boat on that one and I was kicking myself for it for a while thinking that was the only way they'd ever release Han Solo in Stormtrooper disguise. lol... *face palm* |

Ahh the memories I walked into Service Merchandise one day and they had all the first figures, I grabbed them all I think I had to wait for the Stormtrooper and Leia as those hadn't shown up yet (or they were snagged up by others) but I eventually got them.
a few years ago my dad sent me something he found at a yard sale....two MOC movie Lukes The funny part about all the "variation hunting" that Star Wars collectors were doing back then? GI Joe fans did it again in 2007-2008 |
