WETA has announced plans to create figures based on the hit sci-fi movie District 9.
We're very proud and excited to be able to announce a range of limited edition collectibles from District 9, Neill Blomkamp's acclaimed 2009 movie. The collectibles are of course created by the same artists and craftspeople who created the original designs, props and creatures in the movie. Further detailed announcements will follow shortly. We'll have more info as it becomes available.

Does anyone else think that this is interesting in the larger scale of things? I mean if WETA do well with it, Lucasfilm might decide to do Star Wars figures in house as SPFX companies start to diversify. This could then lead to a whole new generation of toy companies which would force the 2 main players to lift their game and force playmates into a situation where it had to innovate or die.

If these are in scale with the Joes, this could make for some awesome customizing potential for a Golobulus (the arm).

Can't wait for ANOTHER cool Mech to add to my collection, though AVATARS A.M.P. isn't all that detailed, but what the Hell, I just want more realistic non Anime inspired Mechs like "Matrix's" A.P.U., "ALIENS" Powerloader, and even "AVATARS" A.M.P. EDIT:Macross's DESTROIDS were realistic to me though...just not all the fancy smancy transforming Mecha...NOT that I don't LOVE them too though...
