I never blew up my joes or shot at them with BB guns...
Bu I did make forts out of everything from sticks, to old bircks and rocks and dirt... One time my brother and I made a wall out of small rocks and put firecrackers in it to try and blow it up. I kinda worked.... We made many forts in our sand box, and just about everywhere else too. My Duke figure once spent a few days at the bottom of a man made puddle we made in the back yard. We made it for our SHARC and Water Moccasin.... |

While I didn't play with Joes much as a kid, I use to make bases for whatever I played with. My favs were my Power Rangers and Beast Wars bases. My BW bases were the best. I even had my entire house mapped out for them. I'd spend hours remodeling those bases. Saddy, my best looking one was unstable. Shame too, it was starting to look like a building without walls...which I think was the problem :P
I still build bases today, though I use real playset now. Only one stay up all the time, the others have a storage place when I'm not using them.

used blankets to make mountains, dug trenches for them to fight it out in, built massive walled complexes using the sand box, make shift volcanos using a burried bucket, tunnel complexs and swamps and caves under the bed, built suspension bridges using construction toys, built large boats for terrorist take downs using building toys (construx), couches became mountains, desks and dining tables became caves and industrial complexs, light fixtures became sky fortresses, other playsets got repurposed too (fisher price and build and blast), Dr Dooms castle from Secret Wars often became the center of conflict. Yea lots of good times. I'm sure I've left some out. OH yea anytime there was a construction project around the house scrap wood usually got claimed for future fortresses or battles. I think thats it.

We would use firecrackers to blow up the occassional knock off Joe. However we would also strap a McDonalds Ketchup packet to them too, for the gore affect (Too many action movies at too young an age...).
I almost lost my Duke when he parachuted into our pond on a cold day. I had to go in after him. Couldn't leave a man behind. We blew up a huge Gingerbread house once with a few figures in it too. They didn't make it... Cool thread, I had forgotten how creative me and my brother were with Joes.

My old back yard should be a national cemetary due to the amount of joes buried in it .
My joes also knew that not everyone was going to make it back from a mission. They faced firecrackers, frozen water, gasoline and matches, and the poor joes that were simply MIA were usually found after the grim lawnmower did its reaping. I liked to use rubberbands as restraints and any piece of furniture was a base waiting to happen. |

I built stores out of Cardboard boxes and made banks where my Joes and Cobras had to get there checks cashed. I loved having Cobra soldiers carry Baroness's shopping bags as she went shopping. It was so fun.

I used to freeze my figures too, then let Barbeque cut them out with his ax and firehose/my kitchen sink. I also made a Pit under my bed - it was on risers and high enough for me, my figures, and vehicles. Used pillows as the blast doors that many a Dragonfly copter had to blast through when Cobra caved in the entrance. And that damned Storm Shadow kept finding the secret passages into it...
