McFarlane Toys has announced a new line of sports action figures. The new line, dubbed Playmakers, introduces articulation in a new line of sports 4-inch action figures. The Playmakers series will debut with new MLB figures.
McFarlane Toys is pleased to announce our newest addition to our ongoing sports action figure product, Playmakers. Playmakers are a completely new type of McFarlane Toys' product based on our existing sports licenses. Playmakers action figures include the high level of detail that McFarlane Toys is known for in a newly developed 4-inch scale figure. The addition of tremendous articulation, more than 20 moving parts, will allow for complete playability and will enable consumers to recreate countless sports action poses. Our initial release of Playmakers action figures is planned to include twelve fan-favorite baseball players, with each figure having a batting and fielding version available. • Alex Rodriguez -- New York Yankees • Dustin Pedroia -- Boston Red Sox • Albert Pujols -- St. Louis Cardinals • Derek Jeter -- New York Yankees • Manny Ramirez -- Los Angeles Dodgers • Ichiro Suzuki -- Seattle Mariners • Ryan Howard -- Philadelphia Phillies • Chipper Jones -- Atlanta Braves • David Ortiz -- Boston Red Sox • Josh Beckett -- Boston Red Sox • David Wright -- New York Mets • Tim Lincecum -- San Francisco Giants Playmakers are scheduled to release to retailers nationwide in Spring of 2010. McFarlane updated their MLB Playmakers page on January 15, 2010.
Take a look at it here... SPAWN.COM >> NEWS >> FIRST LOOK AT MLB PLAYMAKERS ACTION FIGURES I'm a Yankee fan so I'm digging the Jeter figure. I'm not too sure about some of their choices when it comes to the articulation though. I particularly don't like his knees and the shoulder/chest joint. The hip articulation seems limited, but I understand why they did it that way because it keeps the figure looking realistic. These are going to be 4 inches so I wonder how they will fit in with the new Joes. Most of them seem to be around 4 inches or so anyways. Please share your thoughts on these figures.

I just hope these are in scale to Joes and the helmets come off I could use more head sculpts.
