We all know the intro to the '86 movie right? It's a big firefight on the 4th of July taking place at the Statue of Liberty. I was thinking that since wave 7 Duke includes a jet pack and Old Glory why not re-enact the last part of the intro where all of the joes are standing on top of the statue with Duke front and center waving the American flag? Since the intro to the movie is pretty cool and action packed I figured it'd be a fun way to display my collection.
What do you guys think?

the statue of liberty isnt that big. after seeing the trailers for cloverfield and seeing the statue head in the street, i was all aggrivated over how the moviemakers got her scale all wrong.
a small bit of research on the wiki and i found out some really interesting facts...such as, her face from ear to ear is only 10"! i was very shocked. so... do you scale your diorama to the pic...or to reality? if you do reality...you may have to send a few joes on vacation! either way...looking forward to seeing pics of your project........GOOD LUCK! |

10 feet from inside the head, straight accross?
or around the front of her face? i would guess the former. makes sense if you think of that scene in the first X-men movie. "ah yes, a bolt of lightning into a huge copper conductor. i thought you lived in a school..." oh! you could also use the head for some custom ghostbuster figures! "i dont think the make nike's in her size, peter..." *DING!* i just had an awesome idea... brb... speaking of X-men... PERFECT!

I was thinking of that same playset as soon as I started reading this It might be a cool thing to pick up. Have some joes on top with the flag, a Viper on the shoulder and another one in a Trubble Bubble with CC on top of it

A guy I used to work with, his uncle had a seven foot tall replica of the statue of Liberty in his yard. We used to always joke around that on a sunny summer day we would bring all my GI Joe's to his uncle's house and re-create the begging of the GI Joe movie using the figures and his uncle's statue.

Yeah, that X-Men playset is what I have in mind for using. Since it's built for 10 inch figures it should have no problem holding a few 4 inch ones on top of it. Once I get paid I'll put in a bid for one of them provided you guys don't beat me to it first! Once that Trouble Bubble pack is released I'll throw a Snake Eyes in there or have Cobra Commander on top of it.
Once I get everything I need it'll look awesome, if not it's getting kitbashed into a new Cobra weapon. It should shoot lasers from it's eyes or something.
