It started with Jakks WWE Figures in 2000, then Marvel Legends, then Art Asylum/Diamond Select Star Trek, then SOTA Street Fighter, then Gi Joe 25th/Modern Era, then DC Universe Classics, then McFarlane HALO, and now the new Masters of the Universe Classics & Ghostbusters figures. I just can't get them all!!! Hell, I even stayed away from Star Wars and Transformers because I knew I wouldn't be able to collect them all!!
I gave all my wrestlers to a friend due to lack of space, I have about 80% of all the Marvel figures from 2001-present. My Star Trek and Street Fighter collections are about 90-95% complete, and the Joes are in the 80-90% complete area. I sold my HALO collection(it was 100% complete at the time), but when DC Universe Classics came out, it was just TOO MUCH!!!! I had to indefinitely suspend my action figure hobby. To quote Scotty, I JUST CAN'T DO IT CAPTAIN!!! Now they bring He Man and the gang back, and they look AWESOME, but I can't afford them. The same with the Ghostbusters figures. I have a family now, and all my money is dedicated to getting us by. Even though I'm grateful to have a job, it doesn't change the fact that it sucks! Hard times, hard times. Anyway, just venting and curious if anybody else is in the same boat as I am. P.S. On a positive note, I do have a couple of better job opprotunities coming up. So maybe in a year or two I can get back in the game. Wish me luck ya'll!! |

w/ space definitely! I resisted the Marvel 3.75 figures for a good while but that failed. I could stay clear of Marvel Legends given they were larger but then Marvel nabbed me. Gave up on TF sans reissues and G! here and there...my biggest issue are all teh vehicles I've amassed from SW and Joe...will probably just end up giving them away..

Time space and money. Now I'm not trying to collect everything just what I like. There have been quite a few things I've passed on that other people love just because I don't care for it. With DCUC all I want is the first 7 JLA. All I need is a Batman that I like, Aquaman and as soon as they make a MM. For GI Joe I only collect the figures I like so I passed on a lot of things (like BATS and ninjas) and I only have a handfull of TF but all you need is the 20th Prime and you have the best.
As far as MOTU I don't like the new ones (gasp) I liked what they did a few years back much more. That cartoon was one of the best I've seen and made things cool that I never thought I'd like. Now if they come back out with Thundercats I'm sure I'll end up with some of them. |

Yeah I forgot about that! Space has always been a huge issue for me too. I would need a 2 door garage JUST to display all of my figures correctly. On another note, if you REALLY are going to GIVE away some of your Joes vehicles and you stay near the Arco in Sac, I would swoop them right up(but I also know it's just so hard to let anything go, especially for free).

You know I also thought that the 200X Masters toon was really good. I really wish they would have at least let them finish it up with a Season 3. The figures looked pretty cool but I'm a nut for articulation in my figures, although I do display my figures like statues. I do get them in some kick-arse poses though!! I remember I actually got one of my Spiderman figures with the finger articulation in the upside hanging poses holding onto his web(I use the twisty ties that is in almost every figure package worth purchasing).

I know what you mean. at the start of this year I was into:
- Transformers Encore - Transformers Masterpiece - Transformers Animated - Transformers Henkei - G.I. Joe 25th/ME - G.I. Joe Sideshow - miniature Ferrari cars Just too much! Fortunately Transformers Henkei and Animated kinda ended. The same for the Joe 25th line. The other ones don't come out too often. I found the will to skip the Joe movie lines, but I am considering buying an occasional Diamond Select Star Trek figure or Spawn figure next year. |

I hear you, I too suffer from lack of space, time and cash., I am currently collecting MOTU Classics, DCUC, Marvel figures, and I have almost every 25th Joe made. Not to mention comic books, I cut back on the comics, and I have 2 ROC figures, Shipwreck and PP SnakeEyes, with Black Timber. I really don't like the ROC line much, some are ok, but for the most part I'll pass. Most of the toy funds are going to Mattycollector now, $20.00 each month plus $8.00 shipping, and now this month is a Bonus figure, for I be forking out about $50.00 for Tela and Zodak. I still am trying to put the 200x MOTU collection together. I need more space...

I can relate. Right now the obstacles in my way are finances since I'm substitute teaching and keeping work is hard to do. The other issue is that I wanted to keep collecting DCUC figures but they are becoming IMPOSSIBLE to find. which means I'm likely to abandon them soon (I already did this once when I couldn't find them before).
I got into the ROC line all hyped up that Joe was still with us but that hype is QUICKLY fading. I like most of the ROC figures I got but am planning on thinning those out soon. I've already abandoned MU figures after opening a few that looked cooler in the package than out of it (Ms. Marvel, for example). I'll pick up a few superhero figures if I can find them (DC ones mainly) but outside of that I may pick up some of the SF IV figures (already got Chun-Li) and that may be it. I've got a few transformers but am staying far away from the movie line and haven't bothered getting anything Star Wars. It's getting harder and harder to collect things I'm actually interested in without investing a fortune (I don't have) into it. Seems like it is becoming less and less worth the hassle.
