I have a collection of figures i want to display, but they are pretty unstable.
Some are top heavy or their legs are too thin or they were bent so close together they can't stand. Worse, some/most of these figures have no peg holes. I am talking about my 90s era Batman: The Animated Series figures. my question is: how do you display figures that you can't put on stands? what are the options for this problem?

Your best option is probably doll stands
They are two part metal stands found at most any doll stores. The bottom part is a wide circle with a hollow bar that goes midway up behind the figure and the other part is a wire that gows on either side of the figure's waist and slides down the hollar bar to hold everything in place. I've seen stands for figures ranging from 3 3/4" - 48" Here's a link to what I'm talking about: http://www.dollmarket.com/browse.cfm...ds/2,1794.html |

A fishing tackle container that has a lock lid or pop lid tend to work better, as they can stand alone. I've got a lot of my joes in those and they don't look too bad. even if they aren't out of the box, they still tend to work fairly well with things. If the figures are falling over cause of their legs not being able to bend at the knees, a lot of star wars, Batman and other kenner toys tend to have this problem. Might want to look at how and where you're keeping the figures. Heat can really play havoc on warping weak plastic, like knees in legs etc. anything that can be formed by heat.

Depending on how picky you are this may or may not work. However, back in the 90s I collected the figures you speak of and I had them displayed every where, had my own Batcave and everything.
What I did was buy some of that sticky stuff you can use to hang posters with. It is very gummy but if you use juts a tiny bit on each foot and press firmly it usually does the job and as far as I could tell didn't damage the figure, but I suppose it could. Another option is using a small piece of clear tape on each foot.

That's a tough one.
So many of those have warped legs right out of the package! I gave my collection to my daughter, and I've noticed some have gotten worse, and it doesn't help that they've got tiny feet and huge chests. I recall using a chunk of clay or compound and smashing the figure's heels into it. Some kinds that harden can be cured once you pull the figure back out, then you'll have a snug fitting stand that isn't sticky. May take some trial and error though. |

White glue, my friend.
It works, it won't hurt the figure or the surface they're standing on, and it's cheap. Alternately you can try hot glue. |

Thanks for the tips.
My Alfred figure came out of his 4 pack with his legs practically molded together. for a long time, i just let him lean against the balcony on the Wayne Manor playset. but damn, Harley Quinn's legs are so tiny and positioned just so; they make standing her a physics experiment. as for heat, i keep them in a room that is kept at about 75 degrees F year round. and away from direct light. I ask about stands because my display shelf isn't the best and it shakes just from someone walking in the room next to it and....they topple. gonna check out that link and i have some white Elmer's i will try. Thanks again!
