I am definitely in the camp that thinks M.A.S.K. should be in the 1:24/1:32 2" scale and not 6". For one, half the vehicles would be automatically eliminated from ever being able to be done in the 6" scale. Not to mention we would only get maybe 2 or 3 items a year if they were 6".
M.A.S.K. just works better as a smaller toy line. I don't think you'd get as many of the play features either in 6" since that would increase the cost of the toys by even more. I love MASK. But definitely want it to be the original scale. Not to mention most people wouldn't be able to have room or the money for a whole line dedicated to 6" vehicles. I just don't think it would be successful at all. It was a line where the vehicles really were the main stars and the focal point. Much more so than GI Joe. |

I'm all in on Classified which means I will likely have to skip this MASK line and whatever the Mega Bloks Joes end up being. It's too bad because I would have loved to support all three.

I'm good with MASK being the same scale as the 80's, as it may allow me to collect some of them. If they are scaled up to 6", I'd have to pass on all of it, no matter how cool.

MASK being close to its 80's releases is cool as heck IMO, and makes me sad that we haven't gotten that for ARAH Joe at all.

I have to throw my hat in the ring in agreement with others who have stated that a 6 inch MASK line would be a very tough sell.
I too loved MASK as a kid but the small scale of the figures and vehicles was part of the overall charm of the line. It was something different when everything else was at least 3-3/4" at the time. Trying to switch MASK to 6 inch scale would just not be feasible in my opinion. I don't believe that the current MASK fanbase is larger than that of G.I. Joe and almost every vehicle would cost a minimum of $100 for the most part. And it's taken several years now for Hasbro to really start dipping into vehicles for Classified so I just don't see any company coming right out of the gate with a 6 inch line of MASK figures (all running between $25-$30 each) and their accompanying vehicles for +/- $100 a pop, or more. Heck, even if they keep the small scale, I'm really not interested in starting collecting another 80's nostalgia line in addition to everything else that I am currently collecting. MASK holds a special place in my 80's kid heart, but not THAT special of a place. |

Gotta consider that GIJoe is a franchise that's been around since the 60's. With ARAH alone running for over a decade. MASK ran for 3 years. I'm only one person, but I love toys, was born in the 80's, and I have zero interest in buying any MASK products of any kind. |

Regarding MASK and to put things into perspective the 1986 Series 2 Outlaw was about 40" in length in the 1:24 scale. If it were sized up to 6", the thing would be 80"! There's just no way. Pricing would also be an issue. The Outlaw was $25 in 1986, which is about $75 today. In 6", that would likely be $800+. Heck, even more moderately sized stuff like the Hurricane would likely be $175+. There are a lot of moving parts and lots of engineering involved with the MASK vehicles, so the cost in 6" would be astronomical.

Certainly not looking to pop anyone's thrill of a M.A.S.K. toyline. However, do we dare run a pole to see how much of a desire is there?

Not only is the fanbase smaller, it's significantly smaller. Likely just a fraction of the Joe fanbase.

It definitely was one of the bigger toy lines from the 1980s if you go by how long it lasted and how much they produced, but obviously wasn't nearly as big as GI Joe (Star Wars and Transformers were probably just as popular as GIJ, but at different times).

M.A.S.K. ranked 5th as my favorite toy line from the 80s.
I was really hoping it would get The Toys That Made Us treatment, I just don't think it was big enough to qualify. |
