Does that A-10 have landing gear? From the picture it doesn't appear to, but I'm not sure if it's just folded up.

The $40 one I bought does. It's definitly the old Chap Mei A-10 tooling, but produced with cheaper plastic, just like the Harrier also listed on Amazon. There's actually a photo of the retractable landing gear for the $40 one in the listing for the $50 one. These listings for overpriced cheap toys are the very definition of "half-assed," "slip-shod," and "sloppy."

Would you say that the $40 version you bought is unsatisfactory, or passable? I had the 2014 Elite Force A-10 (the one reissued from Combat Command circa 2005), and I found the action features a little intrusive and the proportions/form factor didn't quite do it for me. I think the Chap Mei version looks fairly decent (apart from the Rattler-style turret) but I'm not sure I'd drop $40 on it just on a whim. I'd always had my eye on the World Peacekeepers version, but I'm not sure how much I'd have to pay for one by this point.

The PTE/World Peacekeepers/M&C Toys is by far the best option if you're after "realism" in your toys, but since it's the closest to being in actual scale, it's also huge. I prefer these toys to be in "GI Joe scale," rather than actual scale so they all jive with each other, and the PTE A-10 was just too large relative to other toys. It was also just too big for my limited amount of space for this shit. I've tried to own it and make it work twice now (once a decade + ago when I bought one from TRU, and a few years ago again when I ordered one directly from M&C Toys), and it's just too damn big for my purposes.

If you really want one, be prepared to pay out the ass for one. I sold mine last year or the year before for a couple of hundred dollars, and that was without some ridiculous BIN option.

That $40 Chap Mei is definitely overpriced in a vacuum, but relative to how much toy things cost now, it's not a bad deal, espcially when compared to the $50 one. It's cheaply made, but solid and sturdy, and for me it's the right size. The proportions are terrific and fits in nicely with my other GI Joe jets. I'm sure it'll be discounted eventually if you can wait awhile, just like everything else on Amazon.

This article from some time ago quite nicely compares the Chap Mei A-10 to others. Take into consideration that the current Chap Mei A-10 in Amazon is the same mold but will not have the same accessories as they have greatly cheaped out on that. But hopefully you still find it useful.

I was looking a little more closely at the two Amazon listings, and from the pictures, they are not identical; the $40 version actually has a lot more sculpting detail (rivets/panels, etc.) and looks a lot nicer overall in my opinion.
