I wish the heads were ball jointed. And the belt......arrrrrrrgh! I'm going to try what you did Jabalong and see how it looks.

I heated up the belt and stretched it and used some picks to get the notch in. Took me all day haha.

They're double-ball jointed, actually. I shave down the neck socket some to widen the range of motion, and they're very expressive once so.
And to put the belt on y'all really do just gotta pop the head and arms off, then slide the tunic up and off the figure entirely. Hiya is *wholly* shit-tier at communicating to their customers (just look at how little character/license info is actually on any of their packaging) so nobody knows how to work their stuff; but they're pretty clearly designed to be pulled apart this way once you can see the innards. Do NOT pull them apart at the waist ball as I previously tried. I was wrong on that point, ultimately due to Hiya's shitty non-communicativeness. |

Any chance of seeing a picture with the arms removed? I don't own any Hiya figures and I'm curious what the construction looks like. Do they all have the same style of construction where you can pop the arms?

DO NOT pull them apart at the waist I as formerly tried and recommended. You'll pop those two halves of the abdomen engineering apart and cause looseness.
You can see the nubbin of the neck where I'd cut the head off to prep the Mego version, but the neck joint itself is just another of Hiya's double-ball barbell necks. The tightness of the collar does limit head movement a bit but carving out the neck socket a bit helps widen the range of motion decently. You can see just a bit of the shoulder socket in the upper chest assembly in the second pic. It's a softer piece designed for arm-removability like the neck socket is softer plastic designed for the same. Once you've got the arms and head off the tunic simply slides up and off to allow the belt to then slide onto it; then you rebuild them. I've not tried popping the hips off the folding t-bar, nor the knees out of the thigh or calf bits as I've not had a customizing reason to yet; and I dunno if I trust those hip balls or the bars connecting them to the taint hinge. |

These HiyaTreks are built *very* differently than previous Hiyas; just to get that shirt to go over the pants-waist. As only Kirk, Spock, and McCoy are out they are indeed all built the same; and I assume this engineering will hold true for all the other Starfleet dudes to come (altho SNW Pike shows a double-elbow hinge and supra-bicep swivel instead of the traditional-18th elbow we see here).
I'm not sure if this format will hold true for Old Spock and Keenser as I can't tell if they've got these 'tunic' overlays or are solid-cast like previous Hiyas. Old Spock could go either way, but my gut says Keenser will be solid-cast with just a waist ball. Nero looks to be solid-cast with traditional ball joints at the waist and moob. |

Thanks for the pics. It's very interesting to see the effort they went thru to accommodate the tunic design. How are the range of motion in the shoulders? e.g. can they realistically 2-hand a rifle?
