So the thread on things you regret getting rid of got me to thinking about a related topic.
What was the one toy you wanted as a kid and never got? For me it was the Thundertank from Thundercats. I had all of the figures, but I wanted that Thundertank so bad and never even saw one in a store. I never even saw one in person until I purchased one off of eBay as an adult years ago. I remember my mom telling me she looked and looked (keep in mind being in my mid 40s this was pre-internet), my uncles looked my grandpa who had retired from the navy and was a truck driver who drove cross country routes to California from the east coast looked everywhere and still nothing.

That's a long list! Part of my adult collecting was about getting shit I always wanted, but never got as a child. Even that was realistic though. Like, I wanted a Flagg and Terrordrome as a kid, but not so much as an adult because of the reality of finding space for big stuff like that.
All that said, I never got a Night Raven. I looked, but just couldn't find the right balance of condition and cost (even with the income and credit of an adult, I still kept my spending in check). In the end, I settled for the RoC Night Raven as cool enough and stopped looking.

I remember one of the old Marvel lines had the Scarlet Spider, and I thought it looked cool as hell. It was also the time where they had wound down gimmicks and increased articulation. I think it was associated with a card game with I think was called Overpower or something. I remember holding it in my hands at KB Toys, allowance money ready to go. My mom said something to the effect of "Maybe Santa will get it for you"- and didn't let me get it.
Santa did not get it for me. I saw it a few years ago at a vintage toy store and damn near bought it out of raw nostalgia and longing, which is something I don't ever really do.

Well one was the Skystriker, which the Haslab fixed for me. I'd say the other big one was the Masters of the Universe Talon Fighter. My cousin had one, so that made it even worse for me. But I will be getting the Origins version.

Lion Voltron, I got the vehicle Voltron by mistake as a birthday gift in the 80s when I really wanted the lion version & ever since then have been obsessive about getting the best lion Voltron possible! This was a common problem & I feel for those who had this happen to them as it was a major bummer lol!

Terror Drome. I tried, and tried, and tried, and nobody would buy it for me as a kid.
Saw it once for $50 at a flea market in like '96 and my mom just didn't have the money for it. I could probably afford it now but kinda not the point. |

The Flagg. It's the only toy I've ever really, really wanted and didn't get. My Dad told me, when I was an adult, that he was going to get it for me until he saw how big it was fully put together and reasonably concluded there was no way I could store that thing in my bedroom, so it would have ended up taking space in one of the other rooms of the house and he didn't want that.
He did get me the Terror Drome and Defiant, though. They were more compact and fit in my closet.
