i am 39.
boba fett when he falls into the sarlaac pit was 38. when he came out of the pit, in full armor after (lets be generous) a week, he aged, 27 years. he lumbered around tattooine for 5 additional years, making him 43 during the "present day" parts of bobf. he went back into that same sarlaac pit with only cloth robes, and did not age another 27 years. he was a fucking elderly actor, and they made literally no effort to hide that. he barely used anything that made him cool - used his jetpack after a slow speed moped chase, had his right hand do all the work he could have been doing. he should have blown up the sarlaac, not mingnawen push the button to do it for him. that took me out of it. daniel logan should have been fett with morrison's voice over, again. it was poorly cast. i'd probably have enjoyed it if they bothered to have a stunt double for the majority of the time like mando. watching an old fart lumber around isnt fun for me. the best part of that show was when mando came. that's about it for me. woudl i say it's a failure? no, because there are always going to be those people that like whatever has the star wars label on it. i learned from phantom menace that im not that kind of person. i'm skipping andor, because i hated rogue one. i'll only watch bobf season 2 if they put more effort into it instead of patting themselves on the back for having a geriatric fart play the main character or a vehicle to put their friends on; and mando shows up to distract from another otherwise miserable experience. and he does have a reputation for being a cold blooded killer, darth vader literally said "no disintegrations" that means "dont kill them you nutcase." |

Din Dijarin and Grogu are why most of those who disliked it, stuck with it as the last few episodes were almost like a Season 2.5 for Mandalorian.
As for the series proper, it was a little hard to buy into the "redemption" arc with Boba still being the ruthless bounty hunter in Mando Season 2 - it ended with him callously killing Bib Fortuna and assuming the throne. Remember Mando Season 2 takes place after his stay with the Tuskens so that's not really consistent with his portrayal in the series. Of course, Robert Rodriguez's need to give a nod to American Graffiti didn't really help either and showed his fundamental misunderstanding of Lucas's concept for a "lived in" universe. The Mods and their shiny Vespa speeders would've been right at home in the base levels of Corsucant, but not on Tatooine which causes a visual conflict and removes the immersion aspect of the viewer with the story. And they were a fundamental part of Boba's story. If he wanted to do an homage, he should've picked Mad Max and given the Mods and their speeders that post-apocalyptic wash. Add that with the COVID set/cast limitations and restrictions, and with the exception of the Luke/Grogu scenes, it felt rushed and unfinished giving off more of a 90's Star Trek television vibe than Star Wars. It's unfortunate we're not getting a Season 2 to see a potential course correction. Looking forward to Mando Season 3. |

that slow speed chase was when i had enough and started to notice all the shit that bothered me about that show. it was literally like a curtain was pulled back and the warts were way easier to see.

I thought the street biker gang was really the only cringeworthy thing in the show. Otherwise I enjoyed it. I felt it was a rip off of Biff Tannen's gang in Back to the Future 2 and pretty cheesy and not in the Star Wars way. I can certainly see those with gripes about other aspects of the show but for the most part I liked the it.

I literally laughed out loud every time Skad did that stupid 360 shot. It wasn't nearly as easy to ignore as the windmilling lightsaber scene between Obi and Anakin in RotS.
It drops tomorrow. I'm hoping the behind-the-scenes politics haven't negatively affected the show like they did with Obi Wan. IMO, The Mandalorian is really the only media product carrying the Star Wars machine forward. Bad Batch is fun for what it is, but it stuck in it's nook and really can't advance on anything without severely retconning Lucas' films. |

yeah i like bad batch. clone wars was an absolute struggle for me. this is what i would have liked to watch back then. they've eeked in an episode about politics in bad batch, which clone wars was full of then - and what irritated me about the show and the prequels. oh my god who actually cares about the workings of space politics.
but if im picking a star wars animated show, im picking rebels. it's great. |

I never liked Boba Fett. He died like a bitch in RotJ. No amount of retconning will change that, for me.

yep. i was pissed. "they REALLY DIDNT LEARN A FUCKING THING from the prequels." and my 5 year old kept saying "where's bad batch? i thought this was bad batch?"
seriously dumb as hell to put it in this series. i get WHY they did it, but it's still not the best idea. these guys are mercenaries and they blow shit up. they arent "drop momentum and skip a whole episode with them and do political maneuvers. only to shit on these exact political maneuvers on the subsequent episode because PALPATINE IS EVIL." |
