I wonder if part of the problem isn't timing. The Reva McEntire lightsaber launched before the show. Likewise the Robbie Rider campaign was launched and concluded before the marketing push for Midnight Suns. The campaign had to rely on comic fans for support. However had the campaign launched with the Midnight Suns game release or the Friday after that would've added another million+ people to the audience that their marketing could have reached. A less than 1% buy-in rate would've led to success.

I don't think the issue was the visibility, I think it's just that no one thinks of Robbie / Car as their mental view of Ghost Rider and all but the completionists said "nah, don't need him." Galactus / Sentinel / etc were far more essential than the third-sting Ghost Rider.

It's like how when they announced him for SHIELD (when the show was being beaten by Flash in total viewers on the same night and they needed to stop the embarrasment of something on ABC losing to a CW show) and expected a big reaction for the first "main" Marvel character to be a regular on the show... and it landed with a splat. You have to really be careful pushing legacy characters, and Marvel hasn't had the patience with Reyes that DC had, with, like, Wally West as Flash.*

* - And even then, they eventually tried to backtrack...

Maybe even stretching as far as the western guy that had the horse (before he was completely retconned to be like some kind of fire horse).

GR's weirdly more like a DC hero in that there's a distinct legacy progression with him. Very unusual for Marvel (or, at least, unusual until recent years at Marvel). It's, like, him and Human Torch.

It's not a visibility issue, it's one of investment. A good story is what gets people to buy in. Ghost Rider was on SHIELD 5-6 years ago, not exactly a huge contributer to current pop culture. Even then the show was only averaging 4 million viewers. If the Midnight Suns game is even moderately successful it would be a far better vehicle to promote the HasLab than the comics or a canceled show. It's too bad Disney isn't better at coordinating it's licensees.

I like the Ketch Ghost Rider the most, myself. In mortal form, Blaze is the best, but in the GR form, it's the Ketch version with that cycle. That would be a must buy, for me, in the Marvel Legends line.
